Thank you SPY, I just gathered that from some posts, especially after glancing at one tutorial, it said it could be adapted to Call of Duty 2.
So, now I will start to peruse the extensive gallery of tutorials again and find the answers to the many questions, which of course will create more questions, ho hum, sigh....
I was able to create a map, with terrain in the Unreal editor after only a few minutes. Yet there is probably less documentation that I found. I switched to Call of Duty for some unknown reason before looking for documentation.
Oh well.
Thanks again, back to reading.

Hi Tim,
good to see another 'oldie' , i'm 43. most mappers are a bit younger then us.
good to hear to that you want to start sp-mapping, have you mapped before with other games? what i understand from your test you haven't.
let me first explaine that it is possible to convert some maps from other games and rebuild them a bit so they can be used for Cod2. but this can only be done when these maps from other games are build also on a GTK Radiant version (because that is the editor that is usde for Cod(2) mapping. you can easely use Cod maps for Cod2 mapping. that is, you can use the map (world) proberly will some cod1 entities work in cod2, but maps from other games that are build with Radiant, there entities will not work and have to be replaced with Cod2 entities, same as for the textures. they also need to be replaced. or the original textures have to undergo a batch convertion and these files have to be placed in cod2, what takes quit some work. you could for instance use maps form games like Sof2 and Mohaa, but the size of things is different, so that wouldn't help. believe that the things in Sof2 are twices as big, so it would feel like you're 40 centimeters high in a map. fun, but not what you want i asume.
then about good tuts, i have to say that there are not many good clear tuts around. and i have to warn you, some of the tuts placed on Modsonline are in correct. or corrupted, they don't work. a shame but true. still, a whole lot of them do work, please look at the left of this site in the list Tutorials and look for the Cod (1) and cod2 tuts, and best is to start with a tut that have titles as; How to learn mapping Radiant, First room tut, etc. even better when you use the video tuts, they show you the best way how you could get started.
succes,
leon

Programmer with 30 years in Pascal, C++, BASIC, FORTRAN, COBOL, no I am not yelling, they are spelled that way!
Working on a major map level and at the same time writing a manual for Radiant. Very difficult to make any progress.
