well, my name is leon, but people will know me on modsonline better as SPY. fro sure you will find me here a whole lot because i always and only map SP (better sayd, in the 7 years that i now map i nver have made a mp/dm map, always and only sp). i started with the oldies like duke nukem, shadow warriror, napalm, quake2, a bit of UT, and than came the real great editors/games like mohaa, sof2, cod, hl2, and fear. for all these games i have made severel sp-mappack with up to 10 maps per mappack. i'm currently still working hard for the last 7 months on my second hl2 sp-mappack, this new one will habe 9 large outdoor maps, and hopefully i can release it within 2 weeks. i know i have told this before, but the hammer update from 23/9 made with an hughe error in it made that the mapping work had to stop fro a while. because cod2 wasn't avaleble when i wanted to buy it, (just wasn't released back than, took another 3 days) therefor i bought FEAR to start after hl2 sp-mappack with FEAR sp mapping/ but the fear editor isn''t released yet. so that's why i will buy the day after tomorrow cod2 to go on i left with cod(1), and that was with 6 sp-maps.
leon
(all the mappacks are on line for download, here at modsonline and other elsewhere, should you be interested than let me know.)
good to be back on a cod forum, liked cod1 |

I have great interest in creating some SP campaigns. At the base of any game, is the SP experience. It always has bee for me.
First I need to get my head around the editor properly (I have started a MP map based on Aleppo Citadel)
I can then concentrate on the more difficult components of SP mapping ie scripting, telling a story (if I can)...
Seeing as COD3 wont be available to us, we will have to create our own campaigns. Ever since I first joined modsonline, I have attempted to teach myself how to map with the help of the many great tutorials on this site.
For along time I stuggled, now COD2 editor is here (for some reason I am finding this version of radiant the easiest to use?) I am a busy beaver.
Beside the Aleppo map I have another couple of MP maps on the way. Once I believe I have mastered certain aspects of mapping I will turn my eye to SP.
I know nothing about scripting. It'll be a long journey.

maybe some people will know me already, i'm visiting modsonline for a few years now and have mapped with games like; mohaa, sof2, cod, hl2, UT, and others that are to old to mention here like duke, shadow warrior, napalm etc, (now i still mention them, o well). after making 19 sp-maps with HL2 i want to make some sp-maps with cod2. it's already a bit old now, so not much people will download stuff anymore that i make. still, the game is interesting anough to map with, i liked cod mapping as well.
so, you will see me the next few months a lot here,

I'm Jeff, 27, been tinkering around with levels since Duke Nukem in 97'. Nothing ever released.
I'm working on a SP adventure involving 2 maps. The first is the outdoor part, a small town, or a farm and field... Depends on how good I can make roads with terrain. This part is slowing me down.
The second map will contain an underground bunker. I'm redoing my Jedi Outcast bunker here for ww2 germany. I want to use the supposed stories of Nazi UFO's to my advantage, and have the player stumble across a UFO in an underground facility. Figure it'd be a neat twist.
Fears: Road with Terrain. I'm horrid when it comes to patches, and been trying to learn all this stuff but it confuses the heck outa me. This is holding me up greatly, which is why i may go roadless and use a wooded terrain.
Wants: I'd love to be able to get a few scientist models, and SS skins would be awesome since SS troops would probably be in charge of this kinda thing anyhow. If not, i'll make do with what the game has.

that sounds realy promising!
am glad to hear that you are working on 2 SP maps, because everyone is always mapping MP. myself i am a real sp mapper, and did also start like you with our old Duky Nuky (the buildengine). it surpirces me that you never have released anything, why is that when i may ask? because as mapper i like to know what people think of my work, and more importent, i just like like it when people are playing my work. couldn't think of mapping all those hours without getting all those nice comments back from people. maybe you still want to release some old work.
i have mapped with Cod(1), and was then able to make everythin g that i needed with terrains, but after a year of HL2 mapping i have forgotten how i did it. i have made a Cod2 sp-map, but all that scripting (i can't script at all) makes that i have left cod2 for what it is and i have now started Prey sp-mapping. hope you will finish this project of yours, for sure i will play it when it is released. i will release my cod2 sp-map later this week, i just have to make the loadingscreen and then i can release it. nothing special that map, just you against the axis soldiers in a snowy city.

I just thought it was never really that great is all. I've got a problems when it comes to second guessing everything. I then look at what others do , get discouraged and say i'll try next game!!
This isn't easy. I watched the video about making roads with patches. at the end it said thincken it and then connect it to your map. Fine. How the heck do you connect it when the vertices don't match ?
This is the frustration that causes me to wait for another game...hehe...
