Hey everyone,

I am trying to create a custom sniper scope overlay for my Call of Duty 4 mod. I first took one I downloaded off of the internet, and put the .iwi file in my mod/mymod/images folder. It looked awesome, but I wanted to modify it. I put it in the .iwi --> .dds converter, and dropped it into Paint.NET. I saved it using the DXT5 (Interpolated Alpha) Setting, with Generate Mip Maps checked (This was so I could get the transparency on the outside instead of solid black). I then converted it back to .iwi, and put the custom scope into the images folder. However, when I launched the game up with the mod, it said it could not load the image, and then crashed. I'm pretty sure I have the right image save settings, too.

Yes, I even tried the image that you posted, and it worked fine. It doesn't seem to like the images I make.

EDIT: In case anyone wants to see the custom scope that I am working on, here it is. The gray on the outside of the scope will actually be transparent.

Anyone know what to do?

You are almost there, only the gray on the outside has to be transparent so you have a wider view.

Can you please post both converters as an attachment? I'm beginning to think its a problem with my converters.

I think you need to disable generate mip maps to save your images. For me work.(I'm using photoshop)

I managed to get it working, but one success lead to another problem. There are black bars on the side of the screen. Take a look.

try to change the size of the image.
