After I saw this video, I realised how lucky I am to have vCOD and CODUO installed.
IW & Treyarch, keep milking money from people - you are doing fantastic job!
What will be next? Some wuzzy fuzzy 5th world war space shuttle game?
All the videos we've seen for BO2 so far have been shot on consoles, as per Activision's contract with Microsoft. So, we haven't seen any DX11 features yet, simply because we haven't seen any PC footage yet. Let's wait to see some PC footage before we start drawing conclusions.
Minimaps - nearly all FPS games use them now. BF3 has one, and so does the up-coming MOH:Warfighter and Far Cry 3. The days of a compass that only showed your team mate's postion like it did in COD1 and UO are fortunately gone. So, I don't think you can say that the presence of a minimap in a game signals that it is going to be lame.
People really need to stop saying "oh, we've seen all that before". Yeah, obviously - it's a franchise. By definition, that's what you get with a franchise. You don't expect each Star War's film to be completely different than the last one, do you? Or what about Lord of the Rings? Perhaps the "Return of the King" should have been a completely unrelated story to the first 2. But in that case, it wouldn't have been part of the series would it?
All game publishers "milk" a franchise, from EA with it's MOH and Battlefield franchises, to Crytex's Crysis franchise, to Microsoft's Halo franchise. All games will eventually suffer "sequelitis" after a while. Fortunately, with the Black Ops franchise, we get enough new and innovative features in the game to make it fun and exciting to play because the franchise is only 1 game old. I loved BO1 for it's character customizaton, and its new modes like Combat Training, which was really fun.
//End rant.
I expect this thread will now be locked, because I've just been passionate, and apparently you're not allowed to be passionate here. The admins can't seem to work out the difference between passionate replies and flame bait. |

I will just say this was my opinion, and not proceed because I will probably get in conflict. Respect others opinions. |

Because I disagree with your opinion does not mean I don't respect it. Respect means accepting that you have the right to say it; it does not equate to agreement with it.
And if you believe in respecting others opinions, then by that measure, you must respect my right to disagree with you. And as such, I respectfully disagree with you: I happen to think you are not just a little bit wrong; you are wholly wrong, and you are so because your opinion is based on erroneous views of what a franchise is, and how publishers work. |

serthy writes...Quote: well, i guess this is and will be the future of games just putting everything that MIGHT be good together. like this fps-games nowadays. is run'n'gun spawn'n'spray or whatever its called.
i really hope that there will be a game in the next times that ha all the good graphics, options and detailled maps but with less 'overloading' and more gameplay-skill and gameplay-tactics
i wouldnt mind if this is in 2025 or 1945, unless its a good game
playing the modern shooters is like 1 hour of connecting to a game 15 mins rush and camp within a 20 minutes game with only max 10 teammates
in fact i like the games, but only for a cuple of days and im bored :)
maybe in 2 years when BO2 is cheap enough i will buy it (however it stays almost unused under my desk like mw2 bo & mw3)
There is a game out already that's like that - it's called Battlefield 3!
I'm a born-again BF3 fan. I only just got the game last Friday for £12.90 (Russian key; download from Origin; change language packs). I purchased the "Close Quarters" DLC, and have been playing TDM on them. Fan-bloody-tastic fun! No killstreaks, no perks, no flash grenade spam, just good old fashion frag - just you against the other guy and his rifle.
I took part in the BF3 beta and hated it. But then that's because I hate the main gametypes of battlefield - conquest and rush. I hate big/huge maps, and I hate vehicles. But Team DM/Squad DM on smaller, or closed-off maps, is really up my street. And they have obviously improved the engine since the beta as it plays so much better than it did in the beta. Most, if not all, of the bad hit detection is gone now, and it almost feels as good as it does in COD, as is the avatar movement - what was clunky in the beta, is smooth as silk now.
Black Ops 2 was on my "most anticipated game for 2012", but since playing BF3, I've now switched that MOH:Warfighter. It wont have any vehicles and will be all close-quarters. Just what I've been looking for.
Now if they only had mod tools for both these games .... how wonderful would that be?
