can't get my pk3 to work. this is what i have for the files inside the pk3

\gfx\menu\levelshots\mapname.jpeg
\maps\mapname.bsp
\scripts\mapname.arena

i'm using winzip to make the pk3 file. it makes the pk3 but when i go to choose the map it doesn't show up. is there anything that i'm missing? thx in advance

Here is the layout for a .pk3:

/map/mp/yourmap.bsp
/map/mp/yourmap.gsc

/mp/yourmap.arena

/levelshots/yourmap.dds/ (Never used a jpg so can't confirm if this works or not)

make sure windows isnt hiding your file extension or you will have mymap.pk3.zip other than that go over your folder structure and .arena with a fine tooth comb. if the map loads from console but isnt in the menu then its a damaged .arena file or you just forgot to list your map to that game mode: ctf, dm, inf, etc.

i don't think it's the arena but to make sure that it isn't here is what it looks like

longname "Chaos"
type "dm tdm"

when i try to load the pk3 from the console i get a message

CM_loadmap: maps/chaos.bsp has wrong version number (0 should be 1)

when i try to load .bsp with the /devmap chaos it works fine

make sure you dont have a copy of chaos.bsp in your maps directory when testing to see if it loads from pk3. also delete the pk3 you already made and try it again from scratch. different games use different bsp versions so if you used q3map2 to compile with -game sof2 that should have come out ok.

ok thx for the help so far, i'm able to load my map thru the console now, but i can't choose from the maplist still and i can't c the pic when i load the map either. again thx for the help

make sure when you save your arena file theres no extra formatting for instance anything like font, fontsize, color. you can use irfanview to verify if your images are the proper format, size, and colordepth.

i've done everything the tutorials said and what u have said, and the only thing i succeeded in doing is loading the map from the console (thx a lot btw, now i know about y it didn't work before). i don't what else to do, is it ok if i send u the folder structure/files to c what is wrong with my files narc?
