Hey guys, i understand this is a random, some what 'off topic' question, but i can't find any other place that may be able to help..

Quote:
Findings on C:

Diskeeper has completed analysis of this volume and found 27391 fragmented files and/or directories and 1381261 excess fragments.

The average number of fragments per file is 15.50.

This volume is very heavily fragmented, with 20% of the total volume space available for defragmentation.

To understand quite how bad my disk is have a look at the picture below:

Simple way to fix this may be to defrag my computer yes? Well much easier said than done..

=======
Fix 1
=======
I have run windows defrag and it gets to 1% and tell me 'some files could not be defragmented'
Nothing at all has been defragmented, so 'some' is an understatement

=======
Fix 2
=======
Next i tried downloading and installing 'Diskeeper Lite' - This starts on 19% and doesnt do anything at all

=======
Fix 3
=======
I then brought 'system mechanic' left the defrag running all night. woke up this morning and found a familiar sight 'Not responding' ...

=======
Fix 4
=======
I then ran check disk (run - chkdsk /f) no problems found yet i still can't do anything about it

Really appreciate any help.

Always make sure you got *atleast* 15% HDD space for windows to run smoothly and for this -defragging.

Thanks foyleman, ill have ago later and leave it running when i go to bed.. anyways one more question why im at it!

Don't know if anybody has heard of this before but i have a process svchost.exe taking up 100% of my cpu, and as you can probably already gather.. it doesnt let me run anything else. Any ideas? I ran anti-virus and adware scaners, but nothing shows up!

And i apologise foyleman if these sort of questions are not really right for this website!

The other guys are posting more usefull information than I am. They deserve most of the thanks in this case.

No process should be taking up that much cpu. the svchost is necessary for running programs specified in the registry. IT also does some more stuff.

I suspect you have a spyware problem. download and run this program, SpyBot. I used to recommend adaware, but they haven't updated in a while.

Here's a post I found that might help.
