ZZZ_ I see this added to many map file names and I assume its
to make the maps load last on a server.
Is this correct and is it needed or is it intended just for
problem maps ?
I'm thinking of adding it to all maps on my servers if it helps prevent problems.

ya, server loads files in alphabetical order

zzz_* may be used to ensure that the contained files are read last and take higher priority than the stock versions. It's only required for mods which "replace" original files afaik.

In CoD4, mod fastfiles in mods/ folder should take higher priority no matter how the files are named.

It used to also be a problem that when a server would add a map to there rotation that didn't have a zzz prefix, it would crash the server because the map may rely on something inside one of the stock files to load.

In COD4, an IWD takes precedence over a mod.ff. If you put a GSC file in an IWD, that is already compiled into fastfile, the one in the IWD will over-ride the one in mod.ff. The IWD file doesn't even have to be named with numerous -zzzz's.

what they all said + if you are trying to run COD uo on a linux server you will always have issues with some maps crashing no matter what you do.
my group used to have a windows server years ago and for what ever reason we changed to a linux, and maps started crashing so we stoped playing them.
just this year we went back to a windows server and all the maps that used to crash run fine now.
