Well guys after many many hours of work I am scrapping my first map for UT2K3. The freakin FPS is killin me and I don't want to turn out any garbage. We learn from our mistakes (and I have made many). I didn't start checking FPS until the other day. The whole map sucks so I am starting a new one. So if you are going to build here are some commands for the console which I have learned much too late in the game.
1. stat fps (very important)
2. kdraw triangles
3. stat game
4. stat render
5. rmode 1 (wireframe)
6. rmode 2 (zone/portal)
7. rmode 5 (returns to normal)
8. fixedvisibility (don't really understand this one)
Just a few of many I am sure.
So forget the screenies I have posted (if I get better maybe I can fix it).

lol remember some of the maps we put out for SoF2??

I still kill myself over some of those.

some excellent points, red. I have had to scrap my projects for similar reasons. It's tough to make that decision at first, but when you get into your new map, you will see why it was worth it.

Plan B is underway. One problem I had was after creating a mesh the texture of the mesh was too bright. I did a lot of hair pulling on that one. It was as simple as falling off a rock (after someone pointed me in the right direction). Standard UT2K3 texture opened in Photoshop and darkened there then saved. Of course it has to be imported into MyLevel. Worked great.
