I have ever since i switched from my xp 2 years ago, noticed a rather annoying graphics issue whenever i try to view patches in caulk / transparent tools or especially in LMap mode. I think it is termed graphical tearing, but I'm not sure.

Basically the texture assigned to that surface bends and stretches off into infinity like it is being sucked into a blackhole (which i just thought would make an interesting map... anyways) and it make tweaking lamp settings all but null. 90% will be invisible and 10 % stretched, so you cant tell by looking at it if it is good or not.

Please see attached picture and enlighten me with the solution if possible.

If I remember correctly, when viewing LMAPs you can simply hit "S" for surface inspector; then select "Natural" and it should fix your problem. Good luck. [thumbs_up]

ty for the reply, and yes for the majority of the time you should set them to natural/ lmap. My problem is that I cannot actually view them at all, even when they are natural or lmap. A long while ago some one said it had to do with some graphical driver that is obsolete in vista/ windows 7 (3D something or other) and i am wondering which one it is and if there is some way to work around it. If i open the same piece of terrain in xp i can see it like when it is in texture mode. open it on win7 it is stretched like in the picture. I am hoping someone has found a fix for this error...

I know it is bad Netiquette to double post so soon, but i wanted to show a better example...

this is a section of terrain from my map in all three layers...

The Lightmap settings are all natural and it is just as bad in LMAP
