When I purchase a game via steam it is normally due to a good deal from the 'Steam Sales' and/or weekend/midweek 'deals'.

Last week I actually preordered 'Batman Arkham City'. Which was listed with a purchase price of $49.99USD with 20% off due to owning the previous Batman game. This bringing the purchase price down to $39.95 (or therabouts) which was a good deal.

I have now just logged into steam and now seen the game being listed at $99.99USD. When converted this would now cost about $120-130 NZD which is in my opinion is hugely expensive for a digital version of the game.

Other games are also priced higher than normal, Rage, Assasin Creed Revelations, Skyrim all $89.99USD.Yet surprisingly MW3 is only $59.99 !

There seems to be upward spiralling trend here, but due to the high prices I will not buy any of these games on Steam. The reality is I can get boxed versions from the shop cheaper.

I am curious to know what these games are listed at, in steam, in other countrys?

If the prices are rising for you too, does this sway your purchasing decision through steam?

I just cant believe they doubled the purchase price for the new Batman game like that. Unbelievable! There is the possiblity it is a 'pricing glitch', but thats hard to believe as well.

The publisher might have changed the price, probably to protect the retail from digital distribution.

Other factors might be exchange rates, demand, disposable income, etc...

New Zealand min wage is nearly double of USA.

Prices on Steam in USA are pretty "stable"... expect $50 - $60 for AAA titles.

They all come in at come in at 34.99 GBP (55.70 USD)

for me, and MW3 like usual jump on the opportunity to gain some extra cash from the hype at 39.99 GBP (63.62 USD)

I live in Canada and there is no conversion rate, which there should be, considering Steam is US and the prices are USD. I get no additional cost or taxes. Taxes probably included but not that I know of. Whatever the cost is, I pay that price. Maybe when I pay off the credit card, there may be an additional conversion cost but I didn't look into it. Even if there is, it won't be that much, probably a few cents.

While that I am here, I would like to complain about EA because EA is a **** money grabber. The cost of BF3 is $67.79 but on my bank statement it says $70.03. I spoke to EA rep on the live chat (I hate it now). They said it's a bank issue. And the *** EA rep took so long to reply after I asked a couple more question and when I ask whether she is still there, she left me (disconnected). And they couldn't even find my order number. All they said is the price is $67.79 and I have to talk to the bank. I spoke to the bank and they said no, it's EA's problem. EA is up to something. Money grabbers!!!! What are you gonna do with $3?! It's gonna screw up your balance sheet!

If BF3 was just on Steam, none of this would have happened. I hate EA so much now. Grabbed 3 extra dollars. [evil]

And so, here in Canada, all prices on Steam are USD and I pay the USD price (well credit card company). Then my bank does a conversion and I pay whatever the price after conversion is, which is not much. Sometimes it's the same as the USD price. [duh] Considering that USD and CAN is pretty close, off by a few cents. Recession...

Nothing rises or decreases. Same as US prices.

Im showing the following prices on steam

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim = $59.99
Batman: Arkham City = $49.99
Rage = $59.99
Assasin Creed Revelations = $49.99

Maybe they had some pricing malfunction and have fixed it since your posting.

*Note: These prices are from standpoint of US dollars, and I live in America (guess what state [casanova]).

As for answering the question ---> would higher prices affect your purchasing decisions . . . there is no way I would start paying $79.99, $89.99 and so on. I would rather invest my money in other forms of entertainment.
