The trailer does do the game justice, looks good.
Welshy, where did you decide to preorder from? i noticed the physical copies are much cheaper than digital, game offer the physical warfare pack which allow early access to a few guns for £29.99, or amazon offers the specact kit free but works out around £32 with delivery.. which you reckon (assuming you didn't order on origin)?

I Pre-ordered from origin, While I'm not to happy about it, i figured you'll be using origin whether you like it or not, regardless of whether you get the digital or retail versions of the game. Yeah even retail copies require you to use orgin.
So I thought I might as well just get it direct. I paid 39.99 for the Limited Edition. According to the origin store, that gets me
Quote:
BATTLEFIELD 3: PHYSICAL WARFARE PACK
Get physical with the help of some extra fire power when you pre-order at Origin
• Type 88 LMG with Bipod
• Flechette Ammo for DAO-12
• Day 1 Access to DA0-12 Shotgun
• Flash Suppressor for SKS sniper Rifle
+ BATTLEFIELD 3: BACK TO KARKAND
Get a full Battlefield expansion pack when you pre-order at Origin
• 4 Legendary Battlefield 2 maps re-imagined in HD
+ BATTLEFILED PLAY4FREE BONUS ITEMS
Research Back to Karkand maps in style in Battlefield Play4Free when you pre-order at Origin
• 807 Combat Shotgun
• Beret for Battlefield Play4Free
It might be worth shopping around a bit to find the best deal, as I'm expecting download problems with origin, despite the pre-load starting tonight. (Well tomorrow morning if you live in the UK) So it'll be interesting to see how "early" the access really is.

Actually it turns out that I can start pre-loading now, not sure whether that's a good sign or not, considering the game doesn't get released in the UK until the 27th...

Sure it looks nice, but that doesn't mean it won't be littered with bugs, it won't have connection problems, and it won't have stability issues for PC...
I'll be waiting for both the price to go down and for players to have enough time to get out of the new game honeymoon period and start bitching about the bugs to see if it's worth it. Only because demos seem to be a thing of the past, nowadays it's closed betas for whoever has already committed to buying the game, and even then, it's often consoles only.

If you able to pre-load already i doubt playing on release will be an issue, surely origin can't be as bad as taking around 8 days to download.. err..right!
Think ill go for the game physical copy, at least i save a tenner and do my little bit in not supporting origin (directly)

There is a day 1 patch that is confirmed. And DICE is gonna work till release day. So, there will be a day 1 patch. So most bugs should be fixed.
However, as I am currently pre-loading, I checked the Battlefield 3 folder and I found an Update folder that includes patches. I am guessing the patches are already made and is included in the preload. Well, if DICE is working till the last minute, I expect that there will be another patch. So the game will be patched twice. Don't take my word for it. That's just what I am speculating.
If no patches on day 1 (second patch), then the patch in the preload is the day 1 patch. That is to say if you have the digital version. If you have the physical copy, then the day 1 patch is the same as the one in preload.
