Welcome.

Now.. what game do you want to make maps for?
In the download section for each game the mapeditor can be downloaded (under "utilities" usually)

As for starting, check out the tutorials for your game on the left. Those are a great way to start. As is the "Find-Search" button if you've got a problem. Every problem has been had before, just remember that if you're stuck somewhere :D

And have fun mapping.

For SOF2, I recommend GTK Radiant 1.4 which you can get Here, instead of using the version that comes in the SDK...

Ignore 19 and beyond until you get into the more advance parts of mapping...

As for the leak, that can be if you don't have any enetities (need atleast a spawn point) or if the entities are in the VOID, this can include being slightly inside a brush, you should have a slight gap between brushes and entities...

However it's main cause is due to brush work done, either there is a gap between walls or so on, your map should be considered "water-tight" from the VOID, so pretend if you were to fill your map with water, it can't leak out ANYWHERE, or you will have a bad compile...

I'd be happy to supply you with some *.map files for examples if your interested...

Also, you should post question about SOF2, in the SOF2 forums...
