:O

Could this be true?

http://www.inquisitr.com/148067/battlefield-3-may-be-coming-to-steam-after-all/

Quote:
Back in July, EA and Valve both confirmed that, due to a disagreement involving DLC, Battlefield 3 would not be making its way to Steam, much to the disappointment of PC gamers. This resulted in a bunch of bizarre, vague back-and-forth between the two companies, with both pointing the finger at the other.

Now, however, it looks like EA and Valve are beginning to work out their differences and, even better, Battlefield 3 just might make it on Steam just in time for its October 25 launch date.

According to an anonymous source who spoke to BF3Blog, EA and Valve are in the late stages of talks to work out their differences regarding DLC, and in all likelihood it will be sorted out before release. The main point of contention EA had, apparently, was that Valve wasn’t willing to allow EA to only sell DLC by way of Origin; if EA was going to put their games on Steam, Valve wanted the DLC to be on the service, too.

Several of EA’s titles were pulled off of Steam, including Crysis 2 and, eventually, Dragon Age 2. Both were pulled for the same reasons that Battlefield 3 wouldn’t be making it to steam: disagreements over DLC. If this anonymous, inside source is to be believed, however, we could be seeing an end to that feud soon.

If so, ARRGH! So many ways to buy! So late to change!

I can't see them doing that. BF3 is the best way they can push origin. If they allow steam to distribute it the majority of users will abandon origin (especially me) and stick to a much more matured service.

Personally i don't like origin, the only reason i will ever use it if for battlefield, i won't leave it running in the background as i do for steam

I hope it does release on steam but speaking from a business view, i think EA will be shooting themselves in the foot not making it origin exclusive

I doubt it will be released on steam, seeing as even the retail copies of the game will be using origin, and I don't see how a "disagreement over DLC" would cause EA to build a whole new service. Pulling off a large amount of titles to then just allow BF3 back on...really?

They want to re-launch EA link and the best way to do that is to use a game that they know will have a huge audience, it's the same reason you won't be seeing The Old Republic or Mass Effect 3 on steam.

I don't hate origin as much as I thought I would. I do hate the "Battlelog" web browser that serves as a main menu in BF3 but that's a rant for another day...

First, I doubt as well that BF3 will be coming to steam. Besides you need origin to play it.

Second. Doesn't DLC means the map/mission is already in the game but the devs just want to unlock it for you but they charge you a stinking fee for it?

Third, since all company does, EA kinda does do. I still believe PC DLC for BF3 will be free. Look at BF2 and BC2, the new maps are free except for Vietnam. If they charge, well, I may not get the map packs unless I have the money or interest for them.
