Will there be a another mapping contest any time soon? i know last seasons contest had a huge lack of interest but i think this time round alot of ppl would submit some of there best work. I know, personally I am at the peak of my mapping and scripting and like many others i want to the be recognised for this. I think if MO makes a huge drive for the ModsCon 2005 some real talent will emerg.

I think this needs to be done soon otherwise the lanch of CoD2 will put a end to the majority of the CoD mappers.

p.s. I know i can't spell... I'm a physicist by trade, not a linguist.

could u give it a serious consideration? *nudges stryder* [rolleyes]

also, i heard that u required the .maps file to enter. I dont have a problem with this but talk within my personnal mapping contacts this is putting people off. I figured that you must want this of proof that it is your map and not a map that you are passing it off as you map.

If this is the reason, cant you just ask for a birds eye view of the map in Radiant? or a prefab, custom model, or a custom texture built by an offical and inserted into a secret room on the .bsp map file.

Why is it such a big deal to reveal the source of your maps? Make your bsp, put it online, now it's dated as belonging to you. If someone says it's their map, you have proof based on the date that you submitted yours first.

I used to release the .map file with everything I ever made.

I think it's silly.

yeah, I am looking forward to another contest too. We'll see what comes up. It's not easy to find sponsors.

Mabey something like... easy, just give a free plus account for the winner

We say there is a mapping contest, and we can evaluate how they do.

Janova: We need the sponsors in order to have prizes. We don't make a profit on this website so we can't afford to buy anything. The last contest was sponsored by ATIC which is linked on the right side of the site.

rkm11: That's is a good idea. We did offer memberships as prizes. However we find we get alot more complaints and alot less entries without decent prizes. It's not much of a contest without people entering. lol

it isnt just that

i mean it is part of it...but it IS a mapping contest

therefor it is (and should always be) judged on mapping techniques...errors in the compile...etc

there is alot to be said about someone who is only interested in the final product, rather than the QUALITY of the finished product

we at MODSOnline are most definitely interested in QUALITY - that is why we have the community that we do - as well as the rules that we do for the contests
