To Mystic:
If you want the PC version of BF3, you can pre-order it easily on the EA store, which is now called Origin. That's where I ordered it. However, the store is having problems on their end, which kinda affects us. Your order would not show up in your billing history or order history. This would be fixed. I contacted tech support twice through the new Live chat feature, which is awesome! Once on the tech support page and in the Origin client. It's extremely easy to use. Except the one on the tech page takes some digging to do but the one in Origin client is extremely easy. Anyways, if you're having this problem, don't worry. As long as you have a confirmation email, everything is fine. If you want the console version, you can pre-order on the origin site as well. This can help people here with their problem with the purchase history.
And it is easier digital although, I prefer a disc. Problem is, I don't want my game to ship and I want the pre-order bonuses, like the Physical Weapons Pack and the Beta access. I didn't care much for the BF2 play for free item, since I already have Battlefield 2 to play. And I look forward to the traditional BF2 maps like Gulf of Oman and Strike at Karkand. So I pre-order the digital copy. And no, I don't want BF3 for xbox. It's pointless. PC is the way to go for BF3 and all BF games.
You can pre-order at retail stores. I am sure there are lots of store in your area. Or you can pre-order at EB Games or Gamestop if you have those.
I don't like BC2 all that much. In fact, I kinda hate it. It has its cool features but no.
To foyleman:
Sorry, I stop listening to the show for a while now. Anyways, so you pre-ordered it for PC through Origin? Mind if I add you, eventually all BF3 players would have to use Origin on release date.
Hmm, to me, I guess BF3 would be the best game though it lacks some roots. Don't want to spoil it but SP seems to be kinda RPG style, with choices to make. I guess I have to say I look forward to more of the SP than the MP. If the MP is completely like BF2, with bots for offline practice, commander feature, 7 classes, then it would be the best.
And BF3 would be fun.
And I don't pre-order games AT ALL, though, I did it this time b/c well, it's BF3! Who could resist?!

Yeah, I pre-ordered like an hour ago. I got it from zavvi, because it's 10 pounds cheaper.
I really look forward to it. I play BC2 regularly, even to this day.
I hope BF3 will have a good campaign (the MP will obviously be excellent).
The only major problem I have with BC2 and might occur with BF3 as well, is that it's heavily based on teamwork and most people I play with seem to not know or ignore that. You almost never win a match if there's no teamwork.
This gets frustrating because no matter how good you are and how hard you work to win, if the other teammates aren't helping and just playing for KDR, then the team is doomed.
Another thing that bothers me is the lack of free dedicated servers. I mean it would make sense in paying for a server if somehow it denied hackers from joining it and you got better pings on it. But since PunkBuster is useless and EA can't do anything about it, then why not allow us to host our own servers ?
On a side note, too bad there will be no modding support. I would have loved making maps for this game (and BC2). |

Why does everything have to be about fighting alone and prove yourself dominance? I find it rather disgusting.
Thats because matchmaking a number of random players will never work. The majority of player who join servers are just there to do there thing, earn some points a go..
For competitive or team based play you need a clan/guild/group etc.. |

I don't see a reason to matchmake. We can all join a server play cooperatively. The squad leader just give us a command and we do it.
If you play Rainbow Six, that would be the perfect example of teamwork when you play cooperatively.
We don't need a clan either.
Just stick together and achieve objectives together.
There are times when I play BF2 and my squad stick together to run to a flag to capture. It was risky but at least it was fun watching each other's back, rather than being lonesome and spamming frags and bullets.
Coop isn't for everyone.
I always had this fantasy where everyone sticks together like real soldiers. Walking straight down a road while enemies are on roof tops pinning us down. We then take cover covering each other. That's why I love the Full Spectrum Warrior series.
It looks like this Trailer of FSW
Though, FSW may be too deep into my fantasy. lol
That's why my foruth map resembles this when we reclaim one of the section of the city. |

You have to matchmake though, maybe my use of the word isn't clear, what i mean is when you join a server you normally won't know most of the people on there so you are randomly joining a group of people (basically the same way multiplayer matchmaking is done on consoles)
You always get someone who want to do there own thing, has there own 'paths' or is a little headstrong and wont take orders from people.
As much as i would love a proper game of tactical military gameplay, laying down cover, and shouting ''alpha, bravo, charlie'' down my mic, it won't happen unless you have atleast a good handful of people you know. |

I know what you mean. I know there are people that want to do their own thing but I say why not everyone just get together and play cooperatively. It's actually more fun this way. At least try to play the game as it is intended to be. Why buy a game that requires a certain way to play and you think the game is cool that's why you buy it but in the end you end up playing run and gun.
What about learning and getting this game b/c of its merits and play style? Why would you get a game and play it COD style?
I always think games in the past are very tactical and fun. Now when everything is run and gun, it gets boring. Sometimes I think games like COD MW games has no value b/c storyline is short and you run and gun and the game is over. There's gotta be at least some learning curve and tactics to make the game fun and valuable.
And I hate it when people are so good and kill you when you barely have a chance to shoot. I am not saying I suck, I am pretty decent/average but sometimes it is nearly impossible to kill someone. Therefore, I think run and gun, "their" own thing is disgusting.
Anyways, someday, things will be what they used to be.
If you got Rainbow Six handy, as it occurs to me you probably do (when you said alpha, bravo, charlie), maybe we can play sometime. :D |
