ok i imagine i will feel stupid about asking this.....but where is the 3d max at....it says it shipped with editor but i cant find it....i found the maya, but how do you open ether? is there something im overlooking

are any of youz guys using 3d max, maya, or gmax????? if so someone tell me where to download it at cause the forums i looked at said it wasnt in the editor like the tutorial says....said you got to buy em or dl em.....someone answer this please

If you are looking for "gmax" you can download this from:

http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

The current version is 1.2.
Dont forget the additional help file and the tutorial file.

"gmax" is a free program using for game editing designed
by "Discreet".
This application is based on "3ds max" and has the same
interface.
But less functionality then "3ds max".

I find "gmax" an amazing freeware program and use it a lot.

I have maya and am finding a serious problem with the plugins for the models and objects. One of the maya mel scripts is compiled for maya version 6 and it only works for maya version 6. Through some research, I found that DICE knows this and might consider doing something about it if they have the time. [sad]

yeah i got gmax, guess you have to figure it out on your own, kinda like gspot [casanova] anyway is 3d max worth buying and where do you buy it

bf2 was made with maya (models and objects). It makes more sense to me to use the same tools recommended by the developers.

I have also seen alot more games coming out with maya compatibility.

I personally prefer maya and lightwave over 3d max. 3d max is so popular because of the pricing.

Is it worth buying? The prices are high. If you want to get into modeling or a future in game development, then it's worth it. Otherwise it's just too expensive to purchase the full-blown versions.

About the "mel scripts" you did mention.
Whats your personal experience with this feature.
Because "3ds max" does not have this.
