Hi all,
Anyone know how one can select a number of brushes, lets say all the walls, ceilings, door, staircases and other enties sitting inside a building and assign them all as a group. The reason I ask this is I do not no how I can reposition a building and its contents without having to move each single brush and try to line it up as it was in the original spot. By building I mean creating a hollow four wall structure then assigning the top and bottom different textures then the walls etc.. And obviously the door and its trigger and target items are all seperate entities.

thanks for any help on this question.

In grid view. Drag a line around what you want to move. You will have to change grid views to make sure the line completely encloses what you want. Then go to the Menu up top and go into Selection, then Select, then Select Inside. This selects everything inside the box.
Backup Your Work or your Work will be gone.

while you have them selected, right-click on grid area, choose func->func_group and they'll be linked together so if you wish to move the building at a later date, when you select it, you'll select the whole building with a single click.

Brutus,
Thanks for the information. This is what i really wanted to be able to do. Select items into a group so that one can move them around. You both
helped considerably.

that's how it works. To deselect them all, hit esc. to select them all, just select one of them when none of them are selected.

Brutus,
I just want to verify that I am following your instructions correctly.
I draw a box around all items, select them inside,
the right click on grid and choose put bold text here funct_group put bold text here .
I then assign a target name to the group entity to make it easier to select in the future while the the L list window. And all works as you and rEdrUmMDK
indicated.
Now...... I notice in your statement
"choose finc->func_group ...".

Question. was the put bold text here finc put bold text here portion of the string a typo OR
does put bold text here finc put bold text
here
represent some option or command in Radiant?

Thanks for answer in advance,
grb

IT's just the way the menu is set up. all your after really is func_group but you have to go through the right click menu and select func/func_group.

The finc is a typo for func.

Cheers

Finc was a typo,

Do not add a targetname to the func_group, It's not needed.

And Fox is right, you just want func_group, which is found under the func menu when you right-click the grid area.

The one thing you can tweak here is by adding a gametype flag, you can specify which game modes your new func_group will be present in. This is how the pyramid is included in INF but not CTF for Columbia.
