Thanks,

if you mean water that will automatically reflect whats above it, then you will need to make that yourself (don't ask how, I don't know). If you just want a smooth kind of glassy water, I recommend either pegasus ater or arnhem water. They are both cool like that ;)

Water shaders are in the /scripts folder. Shaders can be tricky so I suggest looking over an existing shader that you are already familiar with. Shaders are often 'multi-layer' textures. Water shaders often have 1 or more alpha textures to represent ripples, movement, etc.

To get a reflection, your shader will define a cubemap which is much like a skybox. The 6 surfaces of the cubemap are used to display a reflected view for the players POV from any angle. So, in reality it isnt 'reflecting' the real world around the player, just the textures on the faces of the cubemap.

Take a look at this forum post:

An very nice map.
With awsome watertextures used.

It is the map "Trenchville":

http://www.modsonline.com/Forums-top-13940.html

[thumbs_up]

The maker of this map has also included a link in this post
how he has made the water:

http://hyper-nova.com/cod/trenchville/scwater1.map

However you have to be aware that you can get problems
because your hardware has to be highend to make
the reflections work.

it isnt tough

and it isnt a highend machine either

if you look at the shader file you will see that there are levels that are ignored

the sfx texture that reflects is sfx/stalingradwater

[angryalien]

edit - to clarify a bit - i should say there are levels of detail that are ignored should a v/c fall below a certain spec[angryalien]

Hi all.

Maybe "highend machine" is the wrong word or better
explanation.
What i did read in the mapreview post and mean is that there where problems with not showing the textures reflextions ingame because of videocard issue.

I like this watertuxture very much and did run the map
and the reflextions of the water are not visible with my
videocard. So looking on the water i can not see the ground.

[banghead]

Correct me if i am wrong.

Another map with a very nice watertexture is the map designed by "UncleBone" this is "La_Breche".

Really have to check out this map.

can use the water texture sfx in your design...just because you cannot see it does not mean that noone else can

that is the beauty of the progressive shader[angryalien]

You mean i just can use the texture sfx in my map and when
other people use my map they can.
Did not come up with that.
[thumbs_up]

Because i always want to check the end result.

Could you tell me a little more about "progressive shader".
