I'm just wondering if any of you here ever did any mapping for Half-Life? Or if you did or didn't like the game and any of it's various mods.

The other day I really just wanted to mess around with some map editing, and since I no longer own SoF2, and won't buy UT2K3...I figured that I'd install Half-Life and poke around.

Ah...sometimes it's so good to revisit an old friend and remember why it was you liked it in the past. Anyway, after playing around with stuff for a while, I've just started to remember and get reacquainted with things, and again, just wondered if any of you here ever did any HL engine mapping?

I used to do some mapping for HL, but I don't remember much of it. I remember using WorldCraft 1.6 back then.

I don't think I can be of any help there. much too long ago. :ohwell:

The editor, tools, and resources seem to have come a looong way since then, foyle. ;)

There's an interesting mod that allows you to play cooperatively with folks over the internet, on these special maps: a LOT of fun.

I actually started playing with it again the other day and I have to be honest and say that worldcraft has come a loooong way. So long that I think I may build me one or two maps for fun.

Cheers

Yeah, that's exactly where I'm at, Fox -- even moreso with the number of mods that are out there, texture packs, etc. I think I'm going to work on some of those cooperative levels, since me and a few friends have started playing it, and it's a lot of fun.

Not to mention, the editor/engine has ALL the features that we were complaining about SOF2 not having, for example. ;P The solution was there all along! Hahaha.

A Long co-op game is Natural Selection that just came out. Personally not my cup of tea but I hear my son playing it a fair amount.

Another that should be along soon, maybe, is Hostile Intent. More to the Rainbow 6 Series I think but uses the HL game engine.

I still enjoy the CS scene but in a controlled environment, my own pw'd server that The Old Farts (Not a clan, just some grumpy old men) get on and have a good fun game or two without the young twerps and game engine hacks.

If you want to come on for some fun let me know and I'll send you a pw for a game or two.

Cheers
