I would like to thank you for the vids on how to make a map but there is no vid on how to turn it into an iwd file i know there is a discription but where do i put the ff file any help would be great thank you

An .iwd is only needed if you using custom images/sound. For the actual map you can just distribute the fastfile.

i have tried sending the fastfile but the ither person couldn't get it to work.

any help on getting him to get it working would be good aswel

What files did you send him ?

He'll need the mp_mapname.ff, mp_mapname_load.ff and mp_mapname.iwd. The last one is optional and only needed if you have custom sounds, music or textures.
All the files should go into CoD4_root/usermaps/mp_mapname/

i sent him the ff one, but i cant find the load.ff to send do i have to make one or should it be somwhere oh and i haven't got a mp_mapname folder any help will be great.

Create a mp_mapname folder (where mapname is your map's name). Then put the two FF files in that folder (you can find those in CoD4_root/zone). If you have an IWD file, put it in the same folder.
Archive this folder and send it to your friend.
Your friend should extract the files to CoD4_root/usermaps.
The file structure should be

CoD4_root/usermaps/mp_mapname/mp_mapname.ff
CoD4_root/usermaps/mp_mapname/mp_mapname_load.ff
CoD4_root/usermaps/mp_mapname/mp_mapname.iwd

Your friend should then start your map via console while in the main menu (command is /map mp_mapname).

Thanks for your help but i cant find the load.ff

I am running windows 7 if that helps and to get my ff file i have to got to my virtual store and i have look everywhere and cant find it

All maps have the _load.ff.
If you don't have it, maybe there's something wrong with the compile.

But, on a side note, can you run your map ?

Can your friend run it ? If not, what error is he getting ?
