Here is a screenie of one of four stair cases with firepots (made in 3dMax). The fire and smoke are one emitter. You can have several things going on in one emitter. The small light is also an emitter (you can make the emitter entitie act as a light only). I did have the ambient light set at 128 but dropped it to 50 which looks better. www.redrummdk.com/images/val7.jpg

The flame and smoke are using the same texture. It was in EmitterTextures/FlamePart_01. Texture browsing is really the pits. Hope that helps. Also look under the particles textures.
