Lo All.

After much hassle I finally managed to get mod tools working again. all I had to do was delete any reg file relating to mod tools.

However.

Now its up and running again, I find a new problem. Before i could move around in mod tools just by using my mouse. Now I find I have to click "shift+ctl" and then move the mouse. Its a nightmare....

Is there a way to set the "camera movement" controls to personal pref's? if so, how? I have looked everywhere with no luck..

Any help welcome.

Thx in advance.

you can use a custom key mapping by creating a user ini file and settings in the Radiant preferences dialog.

Quote:
Command Mapping For CoD4 Radiant

You can use the default hot keys in Call of Duty 4 Radiant as listed here, or you can map your own, whether all of them or just some.

You will need to start by making a .INI file (ideally, but can be made anywhere) in the \bin folder where the Radiant executable is. The filename does not matter, just be sure the file type is .INI.

Once made or if you want to make changes, open up the .INI in a text editing program such as NotePad++ or Word.

When you've finally gotten your .INI as you want it to be, save it and load up Call of Duty 4 Radiant. Go to Edit>Preferences... or hot key P (by default). In the Maps/Undo/Ini section on the bottom, click the browse path button [...] next to User INI Path: field and locate the .INI you made. Restart Radiant and your custom hot key commands will be working.

Command Mapping Syntax

Command name=keystroke

You can use +alt, shift or ctrl to modify the keys (you can combine them).
i.e. EntityColor=k+ctrl

Semicolons ; are used for commenting.

The .INI is read line by line, so if you try mapping the same hot key to multiple commands, the last command assigned will be connected to the hot key.

Special Keys

UP = Cursor up
DOWN = Cursor down
LEFT = Cursor left
RIGHT = Cursor right
SPACE = space
BACKSPACE = back space
ESCAPE = escape
END = end
INSERT = insert
DELETE = delete
PAGEUP = page up
PAGEDOWN = page down
TAB = tab
RETURN = return (enter)
1..2 = 1 .. 12
COMMA = ,
PERIOD = .
PLUS = +
MULTIPLY = *
SUBTRACT = -

Some Examples

CubicClipping = 0
CubicScale = 16
WhichGame = MK
ALTEdgeDrag = 1
UseTextureBar = 0
FaceColors = 0

[Commands]
EntityColor = K
CameraForward = UP
CameraBack = DOWN
CameraLeft = LEFT
CameraRight = RIGHT
CameraUp = D

From Infinity Ward Community Wiki
Found at http://www.codutility.com/etqw/index.php?file=Forum&page=viewtopic&forum_id=22&thread_id=44

Here is a sample ini file (cod5 sdk):
http://www.zeroy.com/websvn_pub/filedetails.php?repname=Call+of+Duty+World+at+War&path=%2Fsdk%2Fbin%2Fmiked.ini

There might be more commands, but it's also possible that the customization is limited to the commands found in the sample.

Nice. Thx.

My main concern though, is that i never had to change any key settings. After I had installed mod tools the camera settings were as I said before: i would just move my mouse around, without using ctl or shift (or both)...

eg: I would use my scroll wheel to move, and just move my mouse up,down,left,right etc to move in the relevant direction. but there doesn't seem to be a setting to allow me to do this...

Cheers again.

weird, did you try a reinstall ?

i'm not aware of a radiant config file, which you could reset to restore the default behaviour...

//update:
i found something in registry! Run regedit, browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iw\CoD4Radiant\Radiant
and delete the Radiant key. I hope this will reset the mouse behaviour.

Hi, thanx for the replies.

Yeah tried a full re-install, well deleted all the files and re-extracted. No joy at all.

Just tried the registry delete and unfortunatley no luck either. Just seems odd that I was happily using mod tools about a month ago, and all of a sudden it all changes. When I first installed mod tools the amera was as I described earlier and a hell of alot easier to work with.. Now it just buggs..

Cheers again..

You can use the button on the toolbar to change camera control modes. I think it has what you are looking for.

Not quite. I still have to press shift+ctl in order to get free camera movement.

Still no luck with this.

I know its not a big issue, but having used mod tools with a certain "control" set-up it's pretty tricky to adjust to a different way to control the camera.

having to press shift+ctl in order to get "free look" with the camera is cumbersome at best..
