Trying to download them now, so not sure what they tools actually do yet!! A month ago, we reported that Black Ops added mod support in a then-recent patch, hinting that the official modding tools were right around the corner. Sure enough, a beta of the Mod Tools was released on June 22 along with a new patch. Despite the amount of hype surrounding these tools, Treyarch didn’t make a big show publicizing the release. For the time being, the tools are only available for download through Steam and on the PC platform. In order to install the Mod Tools, you’ll need three things: an account on Steam, the Steam platform installed on your computer, and, of course, Black Ops installed. The Mod Tools can then be found in Steam under Library > Tools. The tools will be installed in your Call of Duty: Black Ops game directory, and mods are filed under — surprise, surprise — the mods folder in the root directory, where they can be deleted. This is quite old news now, they have been released for a while but due to the absence of mapping tools, most people haven't bothered.
