I just opened the editor and starting working on my first test level for this game.

I am REALLY liking this editor. It's quite simple.

Now, I made my first level based on the tutorials supplied by EA and when I tried to load the level, the game crashed. I am not sure why yet and it could be because of a mistake a made. I will try again.

I want to know if anyone else has the same problem and perhaps this is not my fault.

How does it feel to be a noob again? :p

I'm not going to try to map for BF2, because.. I don't have the game. So I can make this one joke and then never post in these forums again :p

strange. I ran through the first two tutorials 5 times now. Each time I started over. When I load the map, it crashes the game before I can see "Join".

At the end of the second tutorial it tells me to test the level.

I am going to update the game and try again. I am still running with the stock installation

Can someone send me a test level? Mine crashes at 15% loading and I can't figure out why.

For all I know, it's my video card.

well i made a seperate mod

and made sure all the settings
were good


make sure ya have all the folders available necessary for it to pen

may be your problem right there

stated from tutorial:

6. Select “Mod>Mod Manager…” from the main menu.
7. A window labeled “Mod Manager – Active Mod : bf2” will pop up with two tabs. Click on the tab labeled “Editor Content”.
8. Notice the list of folders in the left window. Make sure that all the boxes next to them are checked. This determines what you will have access to in your map:

yeah, I made sure all of the boxes were checked even though all of them don't need to be checked. Having written so many tutorials, I know the importance of following each step. hehe.

I haven't tried a new mod.

I really think the problem is that too much is being loaded and it's crashing my video. This is why I want to try out someone elses test map. If anyone has one, please email it to me (zip the folder and email to link below).

I have a two stage problem with my video:

- I have only a 5700 Ultra which I know is not fully supported by the game. It works for me at home for the game but not on one of my computers at the office which also uses the 5700 ultra.

- I can't upgrade to the latest video drivers because my second video (5200 pci) card can't accept it. When I install any drivers above v66 (nVidia), my computer will not run.

Although everything else in my computer is decent, I need to upgrade. I have to wait until next year before I can afford it (and write it off for business). At that time I plan on upgrading to new tech such as dual core and sli. So there is no point in wasting money on a new agp card.

Just unzip the contents to the Level folder.

I went through the tutorial and test a map and it worked, but when I started mapping my 2nd one it shuts downs BF2 @ about 66% loaded!?!. Keyword BETA......................

The editor is very very simple though!
