anyone got a freakin idea why i put the my_level map in the mods/bf2/levels folder like it says in the tut and it wont show up in the list of maps to choose to start a local server.....if i make one from scratch it will but it wont with this one.....i followed the tuts exactly.....help....

well like i said i followed the tuts exactl down to the t......did the my_level included with the second tut....put the cp's in like it said and spawns and all....when i try to go in game it crashes at like 15 percent on the maps i made.....but when i use the map included in the 2nd tut it wont even show up on the maplist when i try to create a local server to test the map.....i put the file in mods/bf2/levels like it said but it wont show up when i try to test it.....and i'll start a new thread with next reply

That's it. I tried the suggestions for making it work and it doesn't work for me. I am now just going to wait for my new computer to arrive before I continue. There are too many factors adding to my problems for me to deal with it. I should be up and running in another week (damn slow shipping). lol

hey foyleman been a while things had been going smooth for sometime in half life 2.... well now im knee deep in bf2 much like you and.... identically, i have the same problem. i followed the same tut. same problem running on a clean and what should be bug free system w/ very high specs. so while i dont think your new pc is going to help dont feel bad a new pc is never a bad thing :) anywayz im going to keep working at it my patience is too limited to wait for the answer if i get it ill definatly post...

ok ive done some thinking and the thing that im wondering about the most is, is it the patch cousing this? i had a map that i made about a week ago... one i was able to enter... well now that map wont work for me either i had forgotten that i made this map... basicly alot like with hl2 i read 3/4 of the first tut and said this is too different im not doing hl2 then before i knew it i was fluent, i couldnt stop going back to it... seems thats whats happening agian after cooling off some i went back to it but when i posted the first time i completely forgot what i had done only a week ago... well take a guess what i installed this week.... thats right my brother... the latest patch... i re-read this post also and was noticing you said you where going to try agian with a retial install- fresh install whatver you said im wondering did you ever get around to doing this??? i was wanting to try that tonight but so far i cant find my bf2 disks!! im sure my girlfriend knows but shes out like a light...

I was able to make a test map and play it on my new computer. I believe the problem I was having was related to hardware specs. I have the patch installed so I can't tell you if there is a difference between patch and no patch.

I wish I could give you some advice to make it work without sending you to the computer store.

If I get some time, I will search around for you today and see if there is anything on the other forums about this. right now I am (late) editing the modsonair episode.

ouchie! well good to know at least... but that prolly means that im having a simular issue... heck i could even be mistaken about ever having it work. either way you have it working with the patch. i tried uninstall/reinstall last night after finding the disk's still same thing with my map and yours... sooo maybe it is a spec issue here's mine amd 3000+, 1 gig dual channel ddr (333mhz), ata100 hd, nvidia fx56000 256 meg, im sure the card is the weakest link here and if you feel this might be my issue id like to know it. thanks agian foyle for your infinite wisdom
