Hey
i try to port some models from cod4 to cod2

my steps:
> ripping the cod4 model with xmodelexporter to .obj file
> also the colormap
> open the model in milkshape3D
> assign the image to the model
> export as .obj file
> using xmodel-exporter v0.6 (site is down for ages, cant find latest exporter)
> put all files (colormap, xmodel_export) in cod2 main root
> open assetmanager
> create new material for the model
> then: new>xmodel rigid, and filename of my xmodel_export
> convert
> error
************ ERROR ************
Can't find material [fakematerial] in directory 'D:\Spiele\cod2\main/materials/
Continue? ( (y)es / (n)o / yes (a)ll )

> where can i find this stupid fakematerial?
> what is it?
> how to stop this error?

i tried it with several models, but its the same, [fakematerial]-error

please, can u guys give me some advice?

EDIT:
i made an extra material with the same image and it worked so far, but its not the answer...
maybe an empty image? lol

kk you can use a simple hex editor to rename the fakematerial to another material (buit with the same number of letters in it)

ive done my model, but there are 2 bigger problems now:
> bullets dont collide (settings in assmanager?)
> its not solid (i know collmaps, but how do i use them?)

-for the collmap i opened a new mapfile called exactly the same like the xmodel
-placed the xmodel origin at (0,0,0)
-clipped it with playerclip
-deleted the model
-saved
-put it in collmaps folder
-compile

but still not solid, did i forgot something?

i wish i knew more about models to help you. but i think the first one "bullets done collide" maybe when you get the collmaps in to make it solid maybe ull get collision? and in asset manager you can then tell it what kind of material this model will be so it knows what kind of impact to give the bullet.

will the collmaps be implemented by assetmanager while converting xmodel_exports to cod2-models?
maybe thats why bullets still NOT impact on my models..

You have to set the collisionLOD on high
And set highloddist on 100000 or something.

HighlodDist is the distance between you and the model when the model dissapears. If the game needs to load all models on high quality from everywhere the game would crash :P
If you have the same model but with less quality put it on MediumLod. And give it a distance. If you are far away from the model the Low quality model shows up :)

Which error? Maybe try to add a name by highlodrigidroot.

And adding a model with less detail isnt necessary :P

sorry sevenz for wrong post on ur thread

okay: it is possible to have an animated model in MP without script!

BUT: i dont know if it is possible to create them, because the one and only animated model in MP is a stock one and maybe build with other programs or so..

heres a video of it (my dedi2 server):

http://de.xfire.com/video/4cafa5/

EDIT: is it possible that this is just a spinning texture? ._. ill test it asap

i doubt that being an animation. I'm pretty sure the material for the threads has "scroll texture" enabled, giving the illusion of an animation.
