Here's a lesson for you. Crappy security cameras are as good as no security cameras. You can't make anything out except for the time and shape of the event.

What's that video? Just my motorcycle being stolen.

** oh right.. 2009 CBR1000RA red

Insurance only pays what the bike is currently worth and does not replace it. Also, the deductible will break that amount down even further.

I had an automatic toll paying thing on it (ezpass). It was even used the day after it was stolen. The police tried to contact them to see what he could figure out and got no where so I reported it stolen after it was used.

Ezpass does nothing to help you find it. The won't help the police. I am responsible for any charges made to it regardless of circumstance or amount. Even 1,000,000 dollars. I asked because I was so surprised. Now if the thief goes to use my pass, they will be sent a bill for the toll by mail. Not me. Them.

[mad] So from what i can make out someone is loading the bike into a car? That is horrible. I suppose there is no other CCTV footage or anything of a different angle?

Im sorry for your loss foyleman, hope you at least get a good insurance settlement if nothing else.

Thanks Mystic.
Yeah, they are loading the bike into the back of a 2008 Dodge Carivan (or so says this van expert I know.. yes, I know a van expert and it's not because I'm creepy).
There was no other video footage available. Too bad the cameras aren't better.

If I stretch my head up from my desk, I can see that parking spot. If the bike was started, I would have heard it. I never expected it to be carried away. The bike must weight 6-700 pounds and I had no idea it would fit in a mini van. There are windows all around the corner of the building and other people here. Heck... you even see my buddy leaving for lunch at the time of the incident and he didn't even think anything of what he was seeing.

I won't know what to expect out of the situation for another 30 days at least. I don't expect the bike to be recovered. It's not like they drove it away and are still driving it around. Unfortunately insurance will only cover its current book value. I don't know how much that is and if it will leave me with enough money to get a new bike.

So about 25 years of riding bikes and upgrading each time with my previous trade-in, I'm not sure what will happen. And this is the first time I've run into an issue of theft.

Soooo... if you decide to buy a bike of your own and the dealer says something about LoJack or other tracking device, seriously consider it. I know I will next time.

This wouldn't happen to be yours (saw on Twitter you posted Honda CBR1000rr)?
It was posted yesterday, fits your same make and model, though it's black and the poster says the paint is glossy like new, maybe they got a paint job so it couldn't be traced. Although the post doesn't actually say its black, and the photo has a watermark so they probably got it off the internet.

Thanks SparkyMcSparks, but that's not it. The mirrors are wrong. But good find. Completely fits the profile.

From experience the book value is normally a huge chunk lower than the sale value of it, but then again i have never owned a road legal bike so it may be different from a car.

They seemed to move the bike with such ease as if it was planned over a certain time. It's quite easy to follow someones routine and if you use the bike every day it could have been eyed up and researched to find the right size van etc..

I do feel sorry for you though, it would break my heart if i was in your situation and someone took my new RAV4.

It could have been worse, in Johannesburg i got carjacked by two armed men, terrifying situation to be in and i lost pretty much everything including money and passport. Shortly after we fitted a blaster (ignites and sprays liquified petroleum from nozzles under the door) to the next vehicle so it wouldn't happen again.

bummer mate. I hope they stubb their toes really really badly and also get one of those nasty paper cuts that festers and leads to amputation.

Maybe some booth babes boyfriends?

I bet if you posted this on reddit with as much details as you can give (bike details, time/date, location, and video) you have a good chance of finding your bike
