How do i make Textured Posters in Radiant,
what tools do i need. i ve windows office with publisher & Word,ect & Photoashop which ive been told i may need but as a beginner i want to make some texture & posters of my own and be willing to share them with other Cod4 users..


Please let me know what i need to start me off with, as easy and simple as possible please.

Look at the top of this web page and you will see different tabs on the page. Go to the tutorial tab and go down to COD4 and look for a tutorial. There is one under Intermediate...

If you dont like that one look for one in World at war...should be the same thing...

ive followed the tut in the tutorial section, the assestmanager is saving them as GTD Files, but when i convert them i get the box up saying Converted Done just 1 line, and when i check the textures in radiant i dont see them anywhere.? any idears on whats going on here.?

once converted where would they be placed.???

here whats im doing on Assetmanager.

The Conversion Done is kinda like an error. I'm pretty sure that means you created your base texture wrong. Meaning it doesn't contain the correct properties for Assman to convert your texture properly. So, it doesn't know how and just does what it says.

I see your color image is a .PSD ??? Should be DDS or TGA.

in assett manager you can use jpeg, dds, tgd, and other picture formats i belive..? as long the pictures ar in a a folder in the root of COD4, ive used TGA, DDS, Jpeg png and still nothink is being converted to texture..?

Sill getting errors..
I resized my image, went to photoshop, open up jpeg image and saved it as a DDS file, reopened ASSMAN,
Selected Matrials, NewEntry, Selected Wood as survice type, /Sign, as usage loaded picture, saved as m1.gdt, pressed pcconvert, and i got this error.



so now what.??

Your screenshot is too small, i cant read the error, can you repost bigger?

OK, could read it "spaces not allowed"

Here are the RULES for making textures:

- Place your textures in a folder called TEXTURES_ASSETS under cod_root
- ONLY use .TGA or .DDS image files
- ONLY use power of 2 image size (some exception can be made here but i wont detail)

And i forgot...

- NO space or weird characteres should be used in File or folder names! EVER!

ok another problem, resised image again, and put into folder, new name, new entry,ect, hit pc conver i now get this.. non power of 2. error.




isnt power of 2 like 128x128, 256x256 ext ??

this is doing my F*cking head in.

oh pics are dont on tinypic as 15" monitor size

BUT some tuts say i put images in a newly made image folder, and the GDT file in souce_data ?

So what am i doing.??

what goes where.
images in Image folder or in TEXTURES_ASSETS
GDT Goes where Source_Data or Texture_assest ???

ok i put images in texture_assets, and GDT are in source_data, i pc-converted it and i got this.



checked in radiant, but still no texture there.

so now what?Remember im using COD4 not COD2

when these are converted to textures, where do they get conveted to,which folder are they saved to???
