Im getting when compiling something like
87.7% compleated 21:06 done 3:15 remaining
Out of Memory
Ive removed many fires, lights and Patching areas and made them into more solids, ive also reduced the map slightly,and lowered the skybox, but still getting this problem, Ive looked into a few peoples threads who also say they get this issue, and it says press SHIFT + L to get to gray scale, but not sure what im looking at..???
So what can i do.. When i run the map everything seems to be there included new added items...
My system is running windows 7 and i have 4-gig of memory which im sure is plenty enough.. |

i shut the PC down every nite, and befor i start to continue mapping i do a system clean up to get any stuff in memory sorted/cleared.
Had this issue with compiling memory issues for 2 days,and i dont have a backup of a map saved befor it started to go like this, and i dont facy redoing the map,as im not half way though it. A big map, maybe,but ive seen bigger maps than mine.. |

Think i i found the problem.. CARGO Skybox is causing most of the Memory error??? Ive just changed over to SkyBox Hunted,and the map compiled in 5 mins not like 25 mins with Cargo skybox , and im not getting any Out of memory error message showing showing up when map is compiled..
Strage that, anyon eelse had this issue, plus my map is darker again,not bright like it was with Cargo, which was ment to give me a dark World ?
And all of the Setting on Cargo was set as defailt..
here what i get now when compiled...
NOTE THIS IS WITH EXTRA UN TICKED..
Can someone ell me what the EXTRA function does, what so inportant using it? Do i realy need it?
oh can someone tell my what the error map_cavens1.grid_auto is and how i can fix it please.? Dose this effect the map much?

The extra function relates to light compiling on lighmaps, in short when selecting extra the compiler goes into finer details of the lightmap and the result should be more accurate lighting and shadow. In reality i have never really noticed a major difference, i also had maps which would not compile with Extra on for the same error you got "out of memory".

You can safely ignore the lightgrid not found, that's only for when you manually create the file by going in the map and catching the dots.

Thanks Zeroy for the info.
I have noticed myself not much differance in the map when i compile it with or with out Extra's,. just that with Extra it take 3 -4 time longer to compile and gives the out of memory issue, with Extras off it only takes like 5 mins to compile, and gives no errors at all, and as i say not much differance in the mapping .even with the colur/shade,shadows, ect.
Least now i can ad more and compile more to the map a little faster,lol as when i was waiting 25 - 30 mins to compile with Extras ticked i was'nt sure what to do with that time,apart from wait and watch a little TV...lol Now it only taking 5-6 mins i can work on the map more and faster...
