The full explanation can be found at
Game Dev. Info

Also included is a summary of files created when you make a map.

Sound problem found in Call of Duty - World at War. Sounds are not being loaded. I was not able to find a real solution. At least not one that I understood. Many people were able to get sound, however, their instructions were either unclear or did not fully work. At some point in trying these other solutions I was able to get sound for one of the weapons, the M1 Garand rifle. The Colt did not work and no other sounds worked. After continuing the solutions, when I copied the wav files into the sound folder, the M1 Garand sounds stopped working. I was not able to fully document the exact sequence of steps that I did, so I have restarted a new map jbmap002 in order to fully document the steps that I take.

The solution can be summarized as follows:

(1)
Call of Duty - World at War\zone_source\your_map_name.csv
Add the following to this file:

sound,common,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,character,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,weapons,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,vehicles,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,generic,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,voiceovers,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,requests,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,projectiles,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,jbmaps,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,ru_battlechatter,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,ge_battlechatter,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,physics,jbmaps,all_sp
sound,destructibles,jbmaps,all_sp

(2) Add the string you used above, such as "jbmaps" to the file weapons.csv in the soundaliases folder in the list of maps.
