I tried closing the window but it doesnt show when i load the map, can anyone tell me what i need to do?

Tell us what key//value you are trying to get to work. You can close the "n" window with esc after selecting a angle from the 8 direction icons, but if you want to enter a key//value you have to hit enter. When you see the new line added to the properties list, just hit esc.
