Patch version 1.02 is now available for download for the Battlefield 2 game. However, I suggest you wait until all the complaints are in before going ahead with this installation. This patch release is the same as the prior release 1.01. The only difference is that the memory leak has been fixed. Any other issues/complaints with the previous patch are still in there so beware.

I've come across a few video card issues too. I have one computer that can't handle the game at all.

I don't trust the new patch yet so I won't be installing it.

I don't remember reading anything about not updating this game. They are already working on an expansion pack.

As foyleman said there will be an expansion called:

Battlefield 2: Special Forces

I found some info from IGN, on the expansion pack:

Today Electronic Arts officially announced Battlefield 2: Special Forces, the hot-on-heels expansion to DICE's popular combat sequel.

The expansion, scheduled to ship this fall, introduces covert operations to the multiplayer action. The title will offer six new "special forces" soldiers to play as: Navy SEALs, British SAS, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, Rebel groups, and insurgents. Along with the new forces comes specialized weaponry and gadgets, ten new vehicles, and persistent character growth

Here is the source i found it at

There is also a lot more info out,

IGNPC: So I guess we should just start off with the big one. What is Special Forces?

AJ Marini: Well, what we did was take out experience with Battlefield 2 and set it into a different environment. How do we change the game without changing the game that much. We don't want to change the fundamentals of Conquest, but we really wanted it to feel like something different. So we started brainstorming and this idea of Special Operations kept coming up, so we ran with that idea
