Lo All

just wondered how every body makes there telephone cables, in my 7 months of mapping i have never tryed to make them, are there any decals in cod or do i have to make them out of path mesh or somthink[ohwell]

The way i usually do it is to make the cables out of cylinders & then i can drag the middle vertexes down to make it sag in the middle like a real cable...[sniper]

I also make hanging cables out of cylinders and then I a some more rows to them to make it more realistic.

I think there is a decal for telephone wires. but of course they are not 3D....

There are all sorts of cables. Look at industial or ship.

Hi ric, I too make mine using a cylinder then adjusting it to fit and with a slight "sag" in the middle.

Why do I always end up with a load of "couldnt derive lightmap" errors when I try this?

I always end up deleting the b****y lot.

hey DadofAzz,
I have about 30 of those errors pop up because I used cylinder to create a metal stair way + banister !!

If you solve it let me know..... it doesnt seem to effect map so why delete them ?? [sad]

Well i finally made my telephone cables, but when i tryed to compile it got to a certain stage, and nothink was happening, then i deleted them and compile works fine, so im gonna stat placing them in 1 b 1 to see if i can find the 1 causing error, lol

Yeah, ric m8... my compile usually goes belly up too.....

How come some ppl can seem to hang cables hither and there with no probs... I have never ever been able to add more than about 4/5 thats when the probs start.

I give up and even if it is one of Wyatts major gripes I say "sod it".
