im still a relatively new mapper... but i know how gradient works, and i have no problem using it. the problem i do have come from actually creating a map. i seem unable to create a vision in my head of what i want, or i can but am unable to put it down in gradient. i also have this problem when i draw.
is there a certain talent i need to map?

I suppse you do need a vision in your head, but you dont have to draw them out first. You could look at pictures of what you want buildings and towns to look like.
I also struggle with getting my ideas it a map thats why ive load of prefabs of buildings i like and then i will put it together into a map.

Hope this helps.[thumbs_up]

there is no replacement for creativity - that is what keeps up making maps...and downloading and playing them

start small and work your way to grand projects...

create your OWN prefabs....things for you to drop into your maps...

before you know it - you will have a small arsenal on buildings and other items and your map will just be a puzzle waiting for you to put together[angryalien]

One thing I've noticed is this: Don't get lost in details too soon. Don't expect evevry house you make to look exactly like you want it to look the very first time. First give it the general shape you want, build more houses (if you're making a town) and THEN start detailing the houses to try to match them to what you want them to look like.

thanx a lot guys, ive decided to make a simple town, with simple buildings at first, like caretaker said. then im gonna make them into prefabs to put into other maps, then im gonna add detail... and voila! ill have a map (after a few months of course)
ur advice is splendid.
keep up the excellent work!
