hey swampy,

i been trying to make a hanging breen model if i do it with a prop_physics he dont apear in the game if i do it with a prop_ragdoll i can attach my rope the way i want he actss all wierd and the only place i can get the rope to actually touch is in the waist.... not by the neck like i want any ideas?[2guns]

also too im having a hard time understand how to trigger entities and do all the fancy stuff like my lifts with ropes then triggering them basicly all that input output stuff has got my confused do you know where or how i can learn more about doing some of these things[2guns]

sry im adding all these problems to one post but if you dont mind can you answer this too... its about water... i looked at the sdk water and made mine the same... np there. but two things are happening when in game. one, theres an error in my console saying missing underneath material... two, my water seems to give a larger drop in fps, maybe thats normal? i dunno but if there was someway i could make it lower it would sure help i was thinking the probem might even have to do with the error[2guns]

1 have a look at this tutorial it has the rag doll you want and a vmf for you to download

2 have a look at this link http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Entity_I/O_-_How_to_hook_up_entity_inputs_and_outputs.

Also valve gave us 7 map’s I think it was 7 in your C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\sourcesdk_content\hl2\mapsrc have a look at them there is a lot of I/O use in them they will help you learn that stuff.

3 that is the problem with water the more you use the more it will hurt your fps and you have to be careful not all work that well some are made for dx7 so they don’t look that good and some are just for beneath and some for bottom.
If like me you can not read them as a lot of the text overlaps go to your texture browse window on the left side change the size from 128 to 256 or 512 and you will be able to read them more clearly.

its a ragdoll one of those dead bodies and all the limbs move and its not just in one position like in the human model folder are? or is a ragdoll sumthin else.

ok i did eventually get it to work, at least the best i think it can work i used a ragdoll and changed a few settings on the ropes the best i could get was him hanging there, no swinging motion! witch would only figure since its not a physics object so that part i gave up on it jus didnt look good enough but as always your help is the best swampy [2guns]

yes when i shoot it it does move... but only from the position its in for example with the prop_physics and a tire not only does the tire move but so does its position in the world and also the rope moves around with it. if you can tell me how to do this with a player model im all ears :D [2guns]

my guess would b to follow exactly wut that tire one is but subsitute when it says tire, in yer head make it dead body thingy or sumthin like that. i am tryin that with one of my doors that i cant get to work in a special way.

no see if i follow the tire tut. and replace the model with a breen.mdl it wont show in the game i would imagine this is becouse this model in pariticular isnt set up for physics like some other models for example there are some benches that if you make them a prop_physics they wont show up in the game you have to make them a prop_static to get them to work and agian im only guessing but i belive that is due to the fact that this model doesnt have the proper data it needs to be that type of model... thanks for trying and any further thoughts would still be apreciated [2guns]
