im havin a problem with that skybox tut. the beginner one, i type in sky_dust at the end where it says to but it dont work. does it work for anyone else?

and the Intermediate one has me lost at the time where it says 2)Build your land brushes around your completed map.(Basicly add onto your existing map outside of your skybox)


so is it just possible to put a sky texture on a huge box around yer map?

make a box around your map using the nodraw texture.
use the skybox texture for just the inside of the box.
go into map properties and choose skybox name.

heres a link to a place that has skyboxes shown and their names. Skybox List

once thats done dont forget to add a light_enviroment entity to light your map.

as for adding the things outside your map... thats for a 3d skybox which is added on after the regular skybox.

well now my sky texture is covering my walls, like its taking it over. i started my game and then it said a error about skytexture and not being able to load it, then i look around and a lot of my wall textures are taken over by sky textures. as i move around the walls go bak to normal in sum places and the sky forms on sum other part of a wall. and in the editor its how i like it but not in the game.

If you are using sky_dust that is for css and you said you are mapping for hl2 so that sky will not work use the link darkone gave you for all the sky names to use in hl2.

ya i went to that site and clicked on the Hammer icon near the bottom. and then there was no tuts there. and all i saw was CSS tuts.
