hi names sean new to the fourms and though no recent posts on doom 3 im die hard fan and am doin some map creating.

ive had an annoying problem that pops up non stop on bigger or even small maps it says:

physical memory 80-90% utilized consider saving

i have a pretty good system

intel celeron 2.6ghz
ati 9600 pro 256mb
512 mb ram

i read on the offical d3 site on the editing sectio nthat they new bout the problem, said they would fix it but havent yet even on 1.3 "probably forgot to"

i don't know anything about doom3 mapping, and maybe its a dumb answer, but if you [save] what happens then? Do you still get that message?

Next time you get this error, check your system resources.
ctrl+alt+del
Go to the performance tab and take a look at how much of your memory is being eaten up.

I don't remember how the resources are using in this editor, but I wouldn't be surprised if the error is caused by the textures loaded. It might be that the textures are loaded into memory and not unloading when no longer needed. This means that each time you browse for more textures, you are filling up your memory.

I think this is probably a real problem.. that your memory is being used up, but the cause is uncertain... so is the solution.

The only suggestion I can think of is to close and reopen the editor when you get that message. This should hopefully clear out the memory (Check system resource to be sure).

well it may be a partial solution to do it. cause its fine if i just make some rooms with only caluk itll not really do that.

heres what he said on it and possibaly forgot to have someone look into it.

I've gotten some reports of people getting the following error when they have a lot of memory in their system (like 2gb): "Physical memory is over 80% utilized. Consider saving and restarting". I looked in to it, and apparently the < sign should have been a > sign (in other words, the error only appears if more than 80% of your memory is free). It should be fixed in the next patch, but until then you can pretty much ignore the error.

::::

ive read in another fourm on this that ppl have had the same prob but no solution. maybe ill ingeniuosly come up with some kinda blocker or sumtin somehow lol but if ne one does come up with sumtin plz feel free to pm me or say on here thx

ok i opend editor and keep loading texture packets like the hell one and base floor etc.. and i was watchin processes on task manager while i did it and it would rise in cpu and memory usage and would not go back down after.. so not sure what to do besides save eevry so often and resatrt it but once my map gets bigger will be the problem cause all of the textures in use and the othe stuff will make it have that same problem more frequently no mattr what cause.

i tried to load like a deathmatch map like tomiko reactor or sumtin and it would do that non sto pand auto save and stuff. [banghead][confused] very frustrating lol

It's definitely a resource error. The editor is loading more information than your computer can handle. Saving will not help.. only unloading your resources.

I think I may have another option for you. I know of this little utility that will clear out your memory upon command. It's called MaxMem and you can find it from AnalogX.com.

This way you can clear out your inactive memory with the click of a button. I don't know if it will work, but it's definitely worth a shot. It's free... so it's also less expensive than more memory for your PC.

yeah regardless of how amazing you think a game engine is always whatch your texture amount, I know your problem isn't with the game itself but more with the editor but still, make sure your not using 8000 textures in a map LOL
