Just thought i throw this out there.If ya going to hunt down indvidual brushes with misc/findbrush /entity 0 brush whatever...each time you delete a brush the numbers change so you can really only fix one brush per compile. the other thing is uo compiler dosent like the fence see thru texture, if thats one your using. It will cause problems to no end and in fact i had same problem with no map shadows until i did away with fence texture. Also camoflage texture that is see thru will cause same problems, no map shadows.

Gomer, the prefab was a large bridge.
and it has brushes all over and none that are together in any one location. the ones that I have checked so far are not duplicating the same space.


JustPlumLoco That doesn't make sense that those textures are bad. why would they include them if they don't work.

Should I start deleting these brushes 1 by 1 and re drawing each one.

I don't understand how the brush right next to it is just fine [confused][crazy]

This is a house in a map I'm working on now, notice the bad brushes. No reason for it except that's radiant.[crazy] Without seeing exactly what your working with I can only make suggestions. Have you solved the batch file problem yet?

Been mapping since cod and just saying from exp.My profile screwed up been around awhile and finished and published 5 maps.From cod to cod2. Uo was one hardest to map for. And yes the compiler for uo did not like them texture and seemed to push it over limit.. And yes you want to fix one brush at time, delete redraw brush and compile again. Now you don t have to do a complete compile just enough to find the new numbers for bad brushes. Once you delete the bad brush it will change the numbers for the other brushes in map, including the bad ones your trying to find.

Gomer looks like you got a mess there.. I have seen that in my map after compile. I re texture it and it straightens out...

Sry man, but yes you do, but don t sweat it. Everyone has to learn and start some where. Do what i do, fix a couple a day and go work on fun parts of map. And remember only run the compiler till you the get numbers of bad brushes and close it. Ive been working on waw map for about 2 yrs and it s close now, Patience is essential to mapping thats for sure.

You don't have to recompile everytime. Work from the highest entity and brush number down to the lowest. I believe the engine re-assigns the brush numbers if you delete one, so if you start at the highest, the brush numbers below are still correct.

Also duplicate planes usually appear (in my experience) if you work off grid, manipulate brushes using 'v' instead of 'e', use ctrl+z a lot. Sometimes it doesnt delete the brush if you press ctrl+z to undo a texture you applied.

so if I apply a texture and then apply another texture it will not delete the first texture?

and I do have mostly duplicate plane errors (what do they mean?) and also mixed face contents (again what does this mean?)

I need to know what they are and how I made them so I don't do this again.

No, the second texture will replace the first.

Duplicate plane errors are typically overlapping brushes, or brushes occupying the same exact coordinates.

Thanks Gomer but I still do not know what exactally a duplicate plane is and how to fix it or better yet how was it created and how can I stop this from happening?
