variable? i think ur a little confused. go into your call of duty folder, open the folder called main, then open the file called iw_06, go into ui_mp and you will find menus there and go into the scriptmenus folder as well. you can open those menus and see how they work and how you can break them down and make your own custom menu. when you have made your custom menu you want to precache the menu in _menus.gsc

The only way you can place custom information from a script into a menu is using dvars set on the client.

For example, check how the Message of the day is implemented in the serverinfo_*.menu files in iw_15/ui_mp

instead of text you can put, dvar "hi" and then some where in your script you can have self setClientCvar("hi","whats up?"); that whats up? will be your text.

You guys are seriously misunderstanding what he's trying to do.

What I believe it is:
The player inputs text into a text box in a menu
The value they type in is now stored as a value of some dvar

You can bind a text input to a dvar however, as far as I know, there is no way to get that dvar to the server.

Perhaps if you explain in detail what you are trying to do with the result we can suggest a different way.

There is a way to get player dvars to server, but it seriously hard to do, cause it requires you to know exactly which values the dvar might have.
It consists of a menu, shading and a dvartest iirc. I never tried it though.
