for my next map i want to base it on a famouse battle, but.... the problem is i dont really know any, apart from the usual omaha beach and stalingrad.

I want to design a kind of carentan map with lots of close range action, a bit bigger than carentan but the same kinda style.

So if any body knows any famouse battles and a place where i can get loads of pictures, fill free to let me know

lol , i know this isnt a REAL battle , but ever seen the film Kelly's Hero's ? in that at the end u have kelly and his group with their 1 tank , versus the germans with their 3 tiger tanks , the town in which they battle is fairly big and offers lots of close quarter action , along with a bell tower for those that prefer sniping. if u havnt seen the movie i'd recommend seeing it and having a go

Its not at all like Carentan but its certainly a famous battle with lots of close combat and action that i havent seen in map form before... The battle for Hill 122 in Normandy... A dense forested hill on which the Germans had heavily entrenched positions and mg nests plus mortar nests too - close combat, heavy mg fire, mortars going off all around, total hell... Plenty of info on google about it - try searching for hill 122 on web and image search...

There are loads of world war 2 battlefields.. [pic a good one then search for some pics, cant think of any more!

I've never seen a level based on Cologne. That would be good.

i think i have seen kellys heros, is that the 1 with the sniper whos a woman?

i would prefere to make a map which is'nt a destroyed town tho, somthink that is still new and looks like both germans and allies have just arrived.

Kelly was played by Clint Eastwood, must have been hard for him to agree to being called Kelly. Oh and if anyone as made, or is willing to make a Siegfried Line, I really wanna play it.

Britian: Arnhem - Althogh made before twice or more, Arnhem was extreemly close quarter's with the fact that almost every British ocupied building was hit by artillery, tank fire and other such malarky wile the British had sometimes no ammo and faught hand to hand with the Germans who had ammo filled weapon's.

Tobruk - Normally a small and quiet port city on the north coast of Africa lying on the Mediterranean Sea, in 1941 the city of Tobruk became a symbol for both sides of the conflict in WW2. For Britain and the Commonwealth it was a symbol of victory and resistance. For the Axis powers its capture and control was vital to reasserting the dominance of arms. The battles that raged around the city of Tobruk provide an interesting contrast in methods and results.

American: - Try a southern france map as france has alot of tight alley's and small yards & entry's along with squeezy road's.

Market Garden - I have yet to see in Call of Duty an american map like niamegen.
