I got the actor and color groups thing to work but when the actor gets to the crouch node to fight off enemies, I got stuck. How do I make it go on further after combat at its crouch node?

Make a new trigger multiple beyond the point of combat - Create some cover nodes for your AI. Now, select the trigger and the new nodes, hit shift+g and tick the same color that you used before. Adjust other settings as needed too. Now these nodes should be your color + the number of color groups in this color - so if your guys are red and the first nodes were red, this would be r1 now. When the player hits this trigger the guys at the R0 nodes will move to R1, repeat this process to leap frog your AI through your level.
