I'm using an Athlon 64 x2 3GHz and can run games like Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, Singularity and Blur on max or near max settings (always 1680x1050 res) with a GTX260 and 2GB RAM, having hardware that doesn't reach the min spec doesn't always mean it won't work at all, it might just run a little slow. |

Well, they are allways posting higher specs for game.
Here's example, my pc broke and im currently on:
AMD Athlon 1800+ (~1500)
1GB Ram
40GB HDD
Geforce 6200 128MB
The CoD4 requirements:
Quote: CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better is recommended
RAM: 1GB for XP; 2GB for Vista is recommended
Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space
Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better
Results? CoD4 works on my temp. PC and i got 40FPS.
CoDBO is still DX9 and they only improved shadows so im sure that real requirements are lower.
And rememver, MP will allways work better than SP because maps are little in multiplayer.

They only improved shadows? I beg to differ, the lighting system is completely different; shaders, fx, animations, poly-limits, there all different. |

Lighting allways goes with shadows and effects are just 4 verticles plats with animated materials. The animations are just moving verticles and they doesn't have to do anything with graphics.
I'm not sure about poly-limits, even Quake3 have same limits as CoD1 or CoD4.
Limits for models:
# Maximum of 1024 animation frames
# Maximum of 128 Bones (q3 had only 14)
# Maximum of 32 Groups
# Maximum of 256 Textures per Group
# Maximum of 8192 Triangles per Group
# Maximum of 4096 Verticies per Group |

Judging by the fact that your calling them verticles, not vertices, you don't know what your talking about. You should really do your research before you state otherwise.
I'm going to stop right here. |

Have almost identical system but with a 8800GT. Metro is the newist game I've played recently and it runs fine. There is the odd game that at times you can tell its struggling. The reality is, it'll be the graphcs card choking.
New PC has been on the cards since last Christmas. I think January/February 2011 will be ideal time. I keep delaying the inevitable...waiting for that next round of CPU's, MOBO and Graphics cards. So I get the best bang for my buck and know it will be good for several years. |
