The problem is that it's coming up on a year since BO's release, and we're still not even sure when the tools will be released.

Back for CoD, CoDRadiant was released about 3 months after the game was released, and because of that there were still a lot of people very into the game so there were a lot of maps. Yeah, the game is more complex now so the tools need to be too, yatta yatta yatta. But when tools are pushed back this much, there are less people as into the game as 3 months after its release. There's also less incentive to make any big mods because by the time you're done a lot of people would have moved onto the next CoD title and your mod wouldn't get played a whole lot.

Forget the days of when we used to play awesome custom maps and servers with paintball mods etc. [rolleyes]
We need to get someone from these companies to look in what most of people believe.

Yeh, I missed the good old days when it's WW2. I don't particularly like modern warfare - not the name but the era - I prefer WW2 over modern era any day. Unless the modern warfare game is meant to be realistic, then sure, I would want it. I don't mind the ranking system but ever since COD4 came out, everything did go downhill. I only map/script for modern because I have my storyline but if I had to stick to WW2, I would still map/script for WW2. My project started out with COD2 anyway. COD2 is actually more stable than COD4 in some ways.

BO was a good move, at least it was back in history. Hopefully, Treyarch goes back into history again. I have had enough of modern games unless they're realistic shooters. WW2 games DO NOT get boring even after a while. There are so much more WW2 stuff that we the players haven't experienced yet. Like Operation Market Garden. Not that I don't appreciate other games having these types of missions, I do, but I want to see COD do it. I hope they end the modern series with MW3. MW shouldn't even be a COD title. MW2 should just be kept as MW2 not COD:MW2.
Oh well. [ohwell]

Didn't Treyarch made the first COD game? If so, Treyarch is expert at making WW2 games.

Gray Matter which merged into Treyarch made United Offensive, but neither made CoD. Infinity Ward made CoD.

Though I wouldn't say them not making CoD disputes that they've made good WWII shooters. UO is an excellent game and even though WaW is underrated, it is still a good game.

Ah, ok. Well, UO was a good game as well. Hmm, I always thought Treyarch and IW alternate between games, so I thought Treyarch made COD1, then, IW made COD2. Well, I guess UO can be considered as the alternate game.

And yes, WAW is a good game. Nothing like hearing Gary Oldman as a Russian good guy, if you know what I mean. :D I don't like the zombie mod all that much, because, I hate horror games but WAW is good. Love how they went back to the original COD and enhanced the missions with better graphics. Love the storyline.

See, WW2 can still be good compared to MW.

Wouldnt it be great if some collection of guys got together and formed a small company to write a new fps game similar to COD series and catered to the PC market only...a company that would be satisfied with the PC sales dollars....a company that would work with the modders to incorporate the great ideas from the gaming community into the game as it evolved...

..lots of money out there for some one![idea]

[sleeping][eek]...Huh....what...oh sorry...I must have been dreaming!!! [wink]

That would be great :D Just back to cod1 and UO.
But a game is more than just a bit of modding and mapping. :(
And the problem is the money.

Well May is 1/2 over and no word on tools. But... we can now preorder MW3 for 60 bucks even tho the game is 6 months away. Gotta have priorities I guess. [duh]

Ofcourse MW3 have priorities. Just a couple of guys from Treyarch is working on the tools I think. That is the reason why it is slow. But remember. Cod2 modtools just came 6 months after cod2. I think 5 months now is normal. Just wait.

Five months plus became normal with COD2....

COD released on 9/29/03 and I have seen posts for mod tools questions here on Modsonline starting 11/26/03....Less than 2 months...

I think the difference lately is now we get less and less info and reliable release info about the tools...makes it frustrating for those of us who are still interested in the series....

If I found another game that I could take my 8 years of mapping to that used Radiant I might just go there....
