I wouldn't normally recommend a game like this this is a very scary and well made game. I'll just give you a little information. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a survival horror, if your like me your probably thinking ''so what? they normally suck'' i would normally agree but not this time.



Graphics are not fantastic and slightly dated but none less still look great, lighting, sound and atmosphere is what counts and this game nailed it.

First thing you will notice is you not playing a traditional FPS, where as you see a ghoul and you shoot it.. rince and repeat. There are NO weapons, you survive by hiding or running. also to spice things up you character is slightly mentally unstable, things like witnessing supernatural events (such as doors opening or stuff flying about) and also hanging around in the dark slowly decreases you mental health.

Problem is to escape these supernatural creatures you must hide in the darkness.. see where this is going? but to bring yourself back to reality you need to solve puzzles which can actually make you think unlike some games, also staying lit up, but in a place full of monsters lighting yourself up like a christmas tree.. not the best move!

The game uses a sort of point and click playstyle where as you look at an object and can pick it up, move it around, rotate it etc. You can also add it to your inventery if you think you need it. Same goes for doors, you control how you open the door by moving the mouse in the direction and at what speed, slowly and quitely or fast making loads of noise and letting the creepy crawleys that your coming out to play!

You can check out the demo but the game have small developers in sweden called 'frictional games'. This game is make or break, all the developers took huge paycuts to get it out, without any success the studio is good as over so if you like it, BUY IT! Don't pirate this game, the devs really do need support.

If that isn't enough to get your interest, frictional games also released a editor for the game, thats right MAPPING TOOLS so you can make your own levels/stories, very impressive for this style of game.

Looks like a very trimmed version of Unreal editor.

It's a good little editor, nice and simple. It also uses the game engine to render everything so basically what you see in the editor is what your see in game.

Yea, the results are pretty nice, I just personally like an editor with patch support, alpha, etc.
