Very close to being done, just need to get no prone in water working.... *cough cough*... *cough*
















The only thing I changed from the original, let you go on that wall

lol...... that doesn't stop you from being able to go prone...

source: tried that, and heres description of water clip @ rgn wiki

"This texture is applied on a brush that would be placed in the area of water. Placing water in your level will only display bullet impacts. Filling the water area with a brush with this texture will create the effects when a grenade is thrown in the body of water and explodes, first the grenade splashing, then the shower of water shooting up from the explosion. If this texture is not used, the grenade will just use the effect of the ground underneath."

Well, guess your map's just barfed up then. I've used clip to stop a player from going prone several times, but hell, I don't know anything 5 years of mapping means I'm just a dumbshit.

Never called you a dumbshit... this is cod4, maybe your thinking of cod5?

But seriously, I have the water texture, ground, player water clip, and water clip, and I can go prone, would it make any diff that my water clip is a terrain mesh, not a brush?

Looks nice so far... I dont get why people make conversions though.. surley you would feel more accomplished if you made a map from your own imagination rather then just re-brushing treys ideas... kinda feels pointless.

Because castle is a great map. Same reason I made Brecourt, great map. Same reason people made carentan before chinatown was announced, its a great map.

And if you think doing conversions is just opening the mp_castle.map in cod4 radiant and texturing it, you are very very wrong.

That's the point though.. surley you would feel more accomplished that you made a "great" map from your own imagination? Rather then the only accomplishment being that you got the brushes in the right places...

I've always thought creating a map from a previous game was a good way to learn to how to map. Its helpful if you really like the map and believe it would be a good conversion for a later version of the game. If it helps you develop your mapping skills then why not!

From what you've displayed, you appear to have created a near perfect conversion. I say well done! [thumbs_up] Keep it up.

The .map was supplied with the tools, hard not to get it 1:1, hehe.
