does anyone know how i can take write protection off folders?

--- this is for windows XP to and i thought maybe if i take read only off folders it would help but every time i apply and and click okay and go to propertys of the folder again its back to read only...

You need to make sure you are logged in as admin.

Right click the folder
Properties
Uncheck 'read only'
Selct the 'security' tab
Select the username of the admin account under the top box
Select the 'Edit' box.
Check the boxes marked 'Write'
Hit apply.

ah only 1 problem to that, those steps were good for windows 7 but windows xp dosnt have a securitys tab lol.

You should have, i just looked on an old xp laptop and it has a security tab.

Hi

There are two things you can do

1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings section, click to clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
Click OK.

or

2. Boot in safe mode :0)
