i know there was an issue with a previous post but i need help trying to get the shadows to show up in my map but they dont. Plz note that my map was imported from cod2 since i made it there. Here are my worldspawn settings:



and heres a video showing u my map so u can see



also theres no leaks in my map. There is one weird thing also i found out. when i press "M" for map info i get one trigger that says "trigger_use" which is a trigger that i didnt put it in there & when i searched for it with ctrl + shift + F and enter its k/v's of classname/trigger_use it doesnt show up at all. weird. could this be the issue? here are also pics of the map in radiant from all angles which show a red line ( from the pointfile ) which shows it goes to one location but my maps perfectly sealed and theres nothing leaking outwards.





i hope this has provided much info. also when i compile my map i dont get any errors. just in case someone is wondering about that too.

Maybe your skybox has somehow become a trigger? Or a piece of it is a trigger. If and when you press M, obviously something is wrong with the map, I would look around near the skybox to find out what the problem is.

I would suggest checking two things.

- Check the skybox and redraw it if possible.

- Make sure your game has shadows turned on in the settings.

i already redrew the skybox once( leaving me with the current one )
and yes my game does have shadows enabled but still nothing. this is weird.

Send me the .map file if you like voidsource.

Double check you deleted the remaining caulk brush if you used CSG. (hide the top skybox brush then look down into your level from the outside).

Next delete the crane.

And send us your compile log (could well be a hidden error in there).

I would tend to think that, like techno suggested, there is a caulk brush giving the problem.

Is the crane a model or is it made of brushes ?
If it's a model, than maybe its origin (pivot point) is lower and is out of the skybox.

well when i imported it i turned everything into caulk
and then i removed the skybox, all clips, all previous models, i had a few errors. like 5 that said error something something at 0, 0, 0 something. but as i later continue to develop the map and moved brushes and snapped them to the cod4 grid, they just all dissappeared, and now i have no errors.

well i know its not the crane model as that was later added on and before that i still had the issue at hand.

The (0,0,0) error was the node without a volume, if I remember correctly. This is a bad error and could cause anomalies. Not sure how it fixed itself, though.

How about doing what (the probably now banned) Larrabee did: press I and copy everything into a new map.

I was looking at your worldspawn values and I thought some of them were quite high. So I went and checked some of the stock maps for cod4 mp and most seemed to have some rather different values.

For example;

mp_backlot "Backlot"

"radiosityScale" "1.8"

"contrastGain" "0.425"

"diffusefraction" "0.5"

"_color" ".8 .9 1"

"sunlight" "1.30"

"sundirection" "-43.5 25.11 0"

"sundiffusecolor" ".9 0.88 .75"

"suncolor" "1 0.92 0.88"

"ambient" ".15"


Im just going to throw out my idea here at this point. Is it possible that some of your values are too high and washing things out?

Are those values you are using from cod2?

i think its the other way around. stock maps have higher values ive seen them.even those u posted here have higher values than mines. and no my settings arent from cod2 they were put in cod4.

i fixed those. they were being caused by the brushes that were placed in a weird angle. this is because this map was done in an early stage of my mapping days in cod2. but as soon as i snapped them back into the cod4 grid they didnt show up again. so thats how i know it was the brushes.
