See example here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/gangsterdave2000?feature=mhum%23p/u/0/0B4IkLwzzs0

No shadows anywhere on my map. I've ticked and unticked and ticked together "fast", "extra", "verbose", "ModelShadow", "NoModelShadow", etc etc etc.

My worldspawn is "Backlot". My skybox is "Backlot". I've tried one huge "lighgridvolume" brush covering the entire map. I've tried "lightgridvolume"'s that only cover playable areas.

Nothing. No Shadows.

Little help and/or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please post up your worldspawn values for the map. It is these values that will determine the amount of sunshine, direction of sunshine and ultimately the shadows. [wink]

radiosityScale 1.8
suncolor 1 0.92 0.88
sundiffusecolor .9 0.88 .75
sundirection -50 240 0
sunlight 1.3

It has been awhile since I did anything in 4 but is your Zone File getting updated? You have reflection probes too?

Check also in the advanced light compile options and make sure that there is no check mark in front of "No Model Shadows"

I have plenty of reflection probes. Tried it with just one probe in the map. Same result.
I THINK my zone file is getting updated but there is one thing.. I have fans in the map, and when I update the zone file, it keeps showing the script for the fans, on the left, but I've already cut and pasted them to the right.
I'll lose the fans right now, recompile and see what that does.

ok, got rid of the fans and recompiled but still no shadows.

I don't get it.. its gotta be something simple.

I also got rid of my skybox, made a new one and mitered the edges - triple checked for leaks. still nothing.

When I compile BSP I'm getting a few errors. All are similiar to this:

"C:\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\map_source\mp_plateau.map" 0 1096 -617.845 -767.687 15.1416 0.167383 -0.915378 0.366151 "Lightmap coordinates don't change in at least one direction; try the LMAP or NATURAL buttons in the surface dialog."

When I go to the coordinate's 1096 -617 -767, theres nothing there. ?

Note the Light Options instead of the BSP Options

This still seems to be what Im thinking is wrong.
