ok my house is almost done, im just finishing the outside, but i can't seem to find a plain night sky texture. the one im using right now doesn't really suit the level, it gives off no light which is great, but there are buildings everywhere around it, so it looks like my house is in the middle of a city.

anyone know where i can get a plain starry sky texture? im almost done with limited knowledge i have of sof2 editing, so if anyone can suggest a custom sky texture, or knows of one in the game, it would be appreciated. you guys will love this map when im done! :smokin:

I always check out textures, skies, etc with my windows picture viewer, but ACDSEE will do fine aswell...i open the texturemap or skies map or whatever, and then i can look at the jpegs like a slideshow....that works for me when i want what im searching for.

ok i found one now, pra6 actually and it looks good. only problem is it gives off light. and i tried to mess with the keys in worldspawn like skytexture and skyintensity but it doesn't seem like they do anything.

i dont understand why worldspawn would have keys like that anyway. hrrmmm :confused:

Those keys for worldspawn are left over from previous versions of quake. (they should have removed them, yes).

the light of the sky is attached to a shader. I suggest renaming the sky and creating a new shader to match what you are after.

i have a nice kinda starry sky i took from jedi knights 2 and converted it to work with sof2.
only thing is it has a planet in it.

thx for the replies.

darkone does that texture give off 0 light? i would like to use it though, and then edit its properties or whatever to make it give off less light. but really i know nothing about shaders, all i need to do is be able to make the light texture give off 0 light.but yes i want it!
