I'm not sure if this is software or hardware.

With my recent build I added sli using 2 NVIDIA GTX 260 boards.
(I'm using an ASUS P6T motherboard.) When I put them in I followed the directions properly and when finished I got the message that they were installed and working properly.

Recently I came across a post that mentioned in order to have the SLI working correctly you must tick enable SLI under SLI configuration in the Set SLI and PhysX Configuration menu in the NVIDIA Control Panel. (Sorry long sentence.) Anyway when I do this upon reboot I get the blue screen. I'm assuming here that without this option ticked I'm not really running under SLI.

The only thing I can think of is that since I'm running W7 64 I'm having a compatibility issue with the drivers. Perhaps they're not 64 bit compatible.

Has anyone else run across this or can you give me a better idea of what is going on?

Who is the manufacturer of the cards? Have you contacted them to see what they think?

I had SLI on one of my other builds and I had that box ticked without any problems but that was with a 32 bit OS. Most likely it is something to do with your 64 bit OS.

Normally googleing the error code that comes up on the blue screen helps, the code would be something like 0x000000A0.

There are a lot of people running win7 64bit with SLi without any problems, so I wouldn't say its the OS.

Mmm not sure, i have vista 64bit and 2 260 in sli, same board and yes you do have goto screen and chk sli and physix. What i would do is:
a)make sure both cards work by installing one at a time and using it to display.
b)make sure power surply is strong enough.I got a 700 watt with something like 25 amps per rail, amps is more important then watts.Blue screen of death sounds like hardware issue but thats just a guess, hope that helps.

Cards are:
EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

No I have not contacted the manufacturer

.KiLL3R.

Unfortunately I did not note the error and have reloaded the drivers without that option ticked so computer loads normally now. I suppose I could tick it again............I just noted that it referenced nvidia

Justplumloco

I verified that both cards are working separately and my power supply is 850w.

Johnno

Cards are bridged and the main monitor is plugged into the top one.

Thanks for the quick replies. I've sent nvidia and evga questions about it, just waiting for a reply. waiting...waiting......

Try deselecting the PhysX option and reboot.

What driver version/release are you using? Did you get the drivers from EVGA or directly from Nvidia and are they beta or certified? When you install new drivers do you overwrite or uninstall the old ones > sometimes you can get crap left in the registry that can and will mess with the new drivers.

According to Nvidia this is the newest or the most current version for that card(s)

W7 260 WHQL 64bit driver

Another good site for sli is the 3 w's.sli.com, nice forum and data base although it's been awhile since I've been there.

i know someone that is running windows 7 64 bit with 2x260 XFX running in sli and has no problem.
if you do not see this in your contol panel then you are not in SLI

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9393/sli.jpg

If your not in sli and still have that problem, do this as follow just incase you have not done this allready

  • Make shere you have the lastest driver
  • put one card in 1st Slot, if card loads up fine shut down and remove that card
  • Repeat with other card,
*if you find that one card is acting funny then there is something wrong with that card*

Next if all cards work right do this next as followed

  • Put your video card in slot 2 only
  • Repeat step 2 above
  • Repeat step 3 above
*If you find that none of the cards work in this slot your PCI-e Slot is bad.
if you have a 3 way board you can also put that card at the bottom and run it if your warrenty exp.

This Should tell you what is going on with your video cards or motherboard or you just had a bad driver install.

if this does not help make shere your powersupplie is SLI ready
